"I quite enjoyed my stay at the Mountaineer Inn. I went for Lurch Fest (in August), a fest for Philippi native Ted Cassidy, tv’s original Lurch. I had read reviews before I booked so know that there have been some upgrades. They DO have key cards and shampoo in the bathrooms. I saw some new flooring so it looks like renovations have started. The Philippi Inn is the nearby restaurant and it’s right next door although it’s not far into town. I had to go this trip without a car, which I knew would be difficult. Don’t plan on taking an Uber anywhere. They are few and far between unless you schedule them in advance, which seems to be the key. But Debbie, the manager of the hotel and her husband gave me a ride into town one day when I couldn’t get a car! I did not expect that. All in all, the main thing is that the Mountaineer Inn is a good value."
"We absolutely loved this cabin! Plenty of room inside and out. Teresa is a gem! She goes beyond to make sure your stay is the most comfortable! We enjoyed the hot tub so much, we're thinking about buying one now. If you want to just rest, relax, read, reboot yourself, this is the perfect place. "Spacious property, lots of walking opportunities. Our son fished, daughter and son-in-law splashed in the river. We sat by the creek and played our ukuleles and sang old time tunes. The house had everything we needed for cooking, showers, laundry and relaxing. "
"This yurt could not be more adorable. Our hosts were super responsive and even gave dining recommendations. Everything was very clean and the hot tub was the cherry on top. Would definitely stay again. "
