It's ok for Mexico

-We north Americans have come to expect more for our money. -The room we got was small, the bathroom was small and the closet was small. -Parking at this hotel is horrible!! If you want to get out early- you are of luck. -Next time I will pay $15.00 dollars extra to get double the size. -I saw other hotels but I could not change my plans.

Would not stay again.

The location is good but the room was not the greatest. We could not sleep because of the noise level. When we first arrived there was no running water. Bathrooms are really small. Staff not very helpful.

Great location, clean, comfortable, safe

This hotel is on San Mateos within walking distance to pretty much everything. The bed was pretty comfortable and if comparing to some of the nearby hotels' rock-hard beds, than you can call it outstanding. The parking is not great at all but it was an extremely busy day in Ensenada. There's one way in and out and not many spaces to park. But they were very helpful and apologetic, not much they can do about. They have another lot around the corner too. The room was clean, smelled clean, not very modern but didn't bother us and the price was very reasonable. Pool was under construction so I won't rate that. Overall a good, safe experience.

Nice hotel in the middle of town. Good walking distance to many restaurants. The man at the desk was very helpful.

Our Annual Ensenada Vacation

We have stayed at La Villa Fontana many times. There location is on the main street. The hotel has private gated parking and is well kept. The staff is exceptional. They are friendly and go out of their way to be pleasant. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The pool area is very nice. I would recommend this hotel highly. It is not one of the huge expensive hotels, but quaint and comfortable. We don't stay anywhere else, because we love it so. It is the perfect spot, within walking distance of the fish market, restaurants, shopping, and the movie theatre.

Good location, with some positives & some issues.

The Good: 1. On main tourist street, in easy walking distance to restaurants, bars, shopping and the bay. 2. Moderately priced, more than the real dive hotels, but less than the Best Western across the street. 3. Gated and secured parking. 4. Staff was nice to me. The Bad: 1. Older hotel is showing signs of it's age. 2. Noise from other rooms air conditioners and swimming pool pumps were bothersome. 3. Room was just so-so on cleanliness. Not horrible, clean sheets and sink but some mold in shower, some crud in corners and behind things that should be cleaned better. So, Expedia asks if I would recommend to a friend? Which friend? No, not to an uptight snob who is expecting the Marriott hotel. Maybe yes to somebody who is looking for a value in this location and will keep their expectations properly in line with price.

Good value

Good value and excellent location, the staff was friendly during the check-in and check-out process and knowledgeable with directions and recommendations. Main parking can get crowded but there's additional parking space like 1 block away.

Walking distance from Papas&Beer

Safe area, located between a coffee shop and liquor store. El Meson de Don Fernando next to the liquor store good place for breakfast, world famous Tostadas La Guerrerense half block from the hotel. Rooms OK, clean, not fancy, no iron, dryer or phone at the room, neet to ask in front desk. Really tight parking lot at the hotel but they have an additional parking place around the block. If you are relly picky you won't like the room.

Excellent for the price!

Decent hotel for the price, close to everything. Wish they had mini fridge and microwave in hotel room. Staff was extremely friendly, we would definitely stay again.

Muy amables los empleados y las habitaciones agradables. El único pero es el estacionamiento, pues es reducidísimo para el numero de habitaciones. Incluyan fruta en su desayuno continental y también cereal, pues los jóvenes y niños los prefieren al pan.

Great spot on "La Calle Primera"

Adolfo Lopez Mateos is also called "La Calle Primera" ("1st Street"). It's a tourism spot in Ensenada due to its many "Curios" shops, restaurants, hotels, bars, and popular clubs such as the Hussong's Cantina, Mini Bar, Shots Factory, Lutzenkirch The Nightclub and Papas & Beer. La Primera is a very busy street, filled with visitors and locals, it has spots of tourist traps mixed with new cosmopolitan businesses. La Primera is just one block away from Ventana al Mar ("Window to the Sea"), a boardwalk/seawall avenue where an enormous Mexican flag is located. It is also close to the Museum, and access to the port. Ensenada hosts many special events throughout the year, like surf championships and the Baja 500, we happened to be there during an annual yacht race.

The location is excellent!!

We enjoyed our experience. The staff was wonderful...very warm and welcoming. They gave us a Fastpass to make our return easier. You can walk to everything.

Nice, quiet, clean hotel.

Hotel staff was incredibly helpful! Explained how to turn on everything (AC, TV) in the room, let us stay parked in the parking area after we checked out, gave us a quick pass to cross the border back into the U.S.

Great place to stay for the price!

I was unsure about staying here as the reviews were mixed. I think the negative reviews for this hotel are undeserved! I loved it! Great location, clean and comfortable rooms. For the price, it was just what it was. An average hotel, clean with a great location. You're not paying for a 5 star, so please set your expectations appropriately.

Not so closely to beach...

Pool had Arctic cold water... we were told it should have been Heated, but eventuallyit was not... beside this the Jacuzzi had no water... how can we enjoy the jacuzzi with no water? Think about that favor... most of all: it took about 3 hrs to have our room temperature warmed...

Old hotel/room but comfortable!

The hotel is obviously old and the rooms are small, but all I needed was a place to shower and a bed to sleep in after a wedding reception and this hotel was 3 blocks away from the church and the hall so it was perfect.

Quiet even tho on the main drag.

Accommodating front desk staff. Experienced parking staff, fit many vehicles into what seemed to be a small space within the gated lot.

Ubicacion muy buena

Muy limpio y sobre todo una muy buena Ubicacion, El hotel es Chiquito, pero es bonito, solo los baños estan un poco viejos y las refrigeraciones, no enfrian.
