Historic Cabin with a Mix of Antique and Modern; Croquet Court to Try Your Skill

Estes Park Registration #3309
Enjoy magnificent views, serenity and privacy from this charming cabin just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. Perfect for your family vacation or artist's retreat, this home is a beautiful one mile walk from the park where you can hike for miles, and it is a short walk to the shuttle pick up spot close by!

You will feel as though you are taking a step back in time as you enter this historic cabin in a beautiful alpine setting but know you will be greeted with all of the modern amenities to make your stay comfortable and convenient. The cabin has an incredible history; it was built by the current owner’s grandparents back in the early 1900s, around the time of the opening of Rocky Mountain National Park.

The owners have kept the charm of the original cabin while adding in modern conveniences. The living area, kitchen, a bedroom, bathroom with claw-foot tub, and game/art/movie room are all part of the original cabin. The modern master suite has been added on and, in addition to having fabulous views of Longs Peak while relaxing in bed, it also has a gas fireplace, reading/artists area, additional bathroom with shower, and washer/dryer. There is even a twin bed in the same room for a child or family member.

Outdoors, there is a covered outdoor seating area, gas grill, and a wraparound deck from which you can breathe in the fresh air, view abundant wildlife and native birds, take in the mountain views, and feel as though you are a part of the wilderness. Elk, deer, bears, and an occasional bobcat come to visit frequently.

The cabin also has a croquet court with seating for everyone to watch or jump in and play.  There are mallets, balls and instructions to get you started on this fun family game.  After a few games of croquet, enjoy the perfect picnic spot on “The Rocks”; a natural stone dining area along with a table nestled under the pines. Or for a change, have your picnic first then light the croquet court with lanterns and play a game in the evening. Don’t forget to get in some star gazing between games of croquet!

Watching storms coming and going over the mountains, and the sun rising and setting on majestic Longs Peak will be experiences you won't forget. Located just minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park where outdoor adventure awaits, there is no need to drive or deal with traffic from this private yet accessible location.

Just a short jaunt into the town of Estes Park which offers shopping, great restaurants and activities for all ages, this cabin will be perfect for your Rocky Mountain vacation!

Perfect Location

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location, minutes from RMNP entrance and Estes Park. There were elk that would wander through the property. It was very peaceful and quiet and stargazing was fantastic. Only disappointment was the queen bed and single bed were in the same room. The 2nd bedroom had a very hard futon which might be ok for kids but my fiance and I were traveling with my 75 year old father. We ended up all sleeping in one room which was not what I had anticipated.

Exactly what we needed it to be

This place was exactly what we were looking for. The house was located close enough to the town but still had a view from the porch. It is in a neighborhood but we never heard much around us and still got to see some wildlife. The road leading up to the house was a little rough but its a short distance. Inside the house there are 7 'beds' depending on how you view it. The master bedroom has a queen, a full (I think) with a trundle, and a twin. There is plenty of space for all of them but you dont get any privacy from each other. There is a small room with a futon, and there is a day bed with a trundle in a common room. The only downside to that room was that neither bathroom can be accessed through the common rooms, you have to go through the bedrooms. I personally felt like the property was well stocked with everything you would need. However I could have done without all of the passive aggressive notes every where. All in all this place really was perfect for a week away to spend some time with family.

Nice cabin with an incredible view

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The one thing this cabin has is an awesome view. We have stayed in Estes almost every year for the past 20 years. For the price, however, the cabin lacks some amenities. I did not realize when booking there is no television. There is also no dishwasher. There are no steak knives or sharp knives to use. Those things aside the cabin is quite nice, but I would not recommend it for more than 2, maybe 3 guests at most. The curtains in the main room need cleaning badly, as do the windows and sills. The rest of the cabin was quite clean and we had everything we needed. The location is also good. Except for the view, for the same or less money we have enjoyed cabins with more room and all the amenities.

Everything we were hoping for and more!

This property has the character, charm, location, cleanliness and views that make a mountain home perfect! We loved the porch, spacious master suite, swing for our 6 year old, and the proximity to great restaurants and RMNP. The hosts were communicative and accommodating. We hope to stay here again soon!

Larkspur Retreat was perfect for what we needed - a place that was big enough for the four of us, that was hidden away, with beautiful views and a place of relaxation. Did not personally work with anyone - all by email.

This house was a true gem.

This house was a true gem. Perfectly situated at the entrance of the national park, with a fantastic view of the mountains (including Longs Peak) from throughout the home. The house was classic with original windows and built-ins, with an addition in the back of the home where the main bedroom was (also has a picture window view of the mountains). My wife in particular loved learning about the history of the home through the pictures and mementoes and written descriptions provided. The cabin was tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well supplied for us to enjoy cooking at our vacation home and we ended up enjoying each of our meals there at the cabin. I'll certainly hope to stay here again if I'm able to visit Estes Park in the future.

Perfect Spot!

We thoroughly loved it at the cabin on Larkspur Road and we hope to stay there again. The history of the cabin was wonderful to read about and be a part of for the days that we were there. We enjoyed the way the cabin was built and all of the little storage areas, old books and dishes were delightful! It was very refreshing in this fast-paced, busy world to enjoy what is truly real and important. Thank-you for sharing this wonderful cabin!!!

Breath-taking and Historic!

This property left us speechless! What an amazing historic family home with breath-taking views and many modern conveniences. We could have sat on the deck overlooking Longs Peak all day and night. So full of sunshine during the day, twinkling starts at night, and amazing views. Superbly maintained and comfortable. Conveniently located to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and a grocery store right down the road. We will definitely be back! What a privilege to stay here.

Estes Park- Lakspur Mountain Cabin

Very charming cabin built in 1924 yet with all modern amenities. Very quiet neighbourhood with wild surroundings visited by Elk and other wildlife. And magestic view on Longs Peal In RMNP. We share owners love of the land and will miss playing croquet!

Estes Park Gem

The property was terrific. Very clean and well supplied. The view of the Rockies from the deck of this 90 year old summer home could not be beat. Close to Estes Park and to National Park. The local property manager was very helpful. We’d definitely rent it again on our next trip to Estes

Perfect Estes Park Cabin!!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This cabin in Estes Park was absolutely wonderful! It is minutes from great hikes including the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, good restaurants, grocery stores and more. Also, the cabin owners have thought of everything, even sketch paper and watercolors, if the mood strikes you. The cabin itself is absolutely adorable with charming decor and amazing views! The front porch is great for breakfast and our kids loved the croquet pit. If you are looking for a great cabin is Estes Park, look no further. We will definitely be back!

Rocky Mountain High...precious cabin

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We feel very lucky to have found this retreat. It is a couple of miles outside of town up on a hill. Wonderful, relaxing view of Longs Peak and the Rockies, fantastic star gazing from the porch at night. The cabin was very clean & well organized. Master bedroom and bath are new and very comfortable. This cabin has been in one family for generations and has been lovingly maintained. It is great for families looking for a quiet, relaxing retreat and base for outdoor activities. It is not for those who need all the latest conveniences, e.g., there is no dishwasher or cable TV. But wireless internet connections were perfectly adequate. We hated to leave this special place.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Spoke with someone the day we arrived but the management company was unavailable afterward when we needed help with the heater. No call back and no answer on multiple days. The mornings were a little chilly. No AC either and the heater doesn't work. They ask that you don't leave the windows open when not at the property so a little stuffy in the late afternoons if you have been out all day. Refridgerator wasn't clean and the floors hadn't been vacuumed well. Otherwise a very nice property and nice old home with lots of history and a great location. Management of the property could be better.

Quiet and Relaxing

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was ready when we arrived. Everything was well marked inside except the use of the oven (which we were finally told was electric in spite of the range being obviously gas), and the TV wasn't connected to anything but a DVR - no cable. There is no air conditioning so the place got stuffy while we were out since we needed to secure all windows and doors while gone. However, we never got to see the cute, curious bear while we were there. It was a nice relaxing time. If you arrive on Friday and need assistance, call the maintenance number found in the folder right away. The office is closed on the weekends. We didn't do that until Sunday morning. The maintenance man didn't arrive until supper time - long after we needed him to explain the oven. The history of the place and surroundings is very interesting. It provided a wonderful view of Long's Peak. The beds were comfortable and the bath facilities were adequate. The collection of books was very rewarding. We enjoyed our stay very much.
