We stayed at Riversong (Morning Glory room) for 5 nights. The location, wildlife, scenery....out of this world. You would be hard pressed to find a greater spot that is not in the hustle and bustle of Estes during the busy season.
It would be a 5 out of 5 except the service was lacking. For nearly $500/night, I had higher expectations. A few things that shouldn't happen at this price point:
- One morning at breakfast, the workers (guys doing construction on property) were cleaning out the food ahead of guests taking all outdoor seating. This is a small place barely big enough for the 10-12 guests they can accomodate, but guests come first, and employees should not be sharing lines or tables with guests.
- Another day, we show up for breakfast at 8 am and the door was closed. We opened it and an employee rushes in to ask us to leave as it is not quite time. Her watch was off and she did apologize, but then came back to our table later to confirm the room we were staying in. It was accusatory (as if we weren't guests) and a little awkward. We'd been there several days already.
- The same employee asked us again to confirm our room the next morning at breakfast.
- Hours after checking out, we got a call "You do know check out is 11 am?" We explained we checked out hours ago, then there were words with someone else on their end (they had the wrong room) and they promptly hung up on us.
Service just felt a little disheveled. The location is great.
