The place was very well kept up with the exception of the fireplace which was one of the reasons it was a location of choice. "Great location right in downtown Custer. The unit seemed newly updated. Beds were comfy and we appreciated the water bottles and snacks. We loved doing the camping puzzle and hanging out in the evenings after long days of sightseeing and wildlife spotting! If I could add anything it would be a dishwasher (no one wants to wash dishes on vacation - am I right?) Parking was super convenient right out front. I would stay here again:-)"

"This worked well for our short stay and was well equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed having the grill and propane fire right outside the door with plenty of chairs. "Why not stay the night in a cute little cabin with a wide porch in the woods instead of a standard hotel? The staff is super nice and helpful, and our room is clean and comfortable. We had a picnic on the porch after our tour of Mount Rushmore which is only 4 miles away. Highly recommended!"

Nice room but……
"The room and hotel were great. I do have a complaint. My 8 year old daughter was using the hair dryer and it sparked, shocked, and started smoking. We immediately called for assistance. I was very concerned for my daughter’s safety as well as whether there would be an issue with the hair dryer causing a fire. We were told someone would be there immediately but yet they never came. My husband went down to the front desk to be told that no one came in because of the do not disturb sign on our door. I’m not sure why there was no knock especially since we had called and were concerned. I realize the hotel couldn’t control a faulty hair dryer but it was their reaction that angered me. No concern for my child’s safety. Then just a lot of talking in circles and excuses. No offer of anything to right the situation. "
