About this property
Peaceful Basecamp Getaway
This peaceful cabin sits at 11,000 ft in Fairplay, CO. Surrounded by pines and breathtaking mountain views, our remote 1 acre property is the perfect place to relax and escape it all.
Take in all that the Rocky Mountains have to offer- including world class skiing, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, horseback riding, scenic views, snowshoeing, ATV and 4WD trails- with this beautiful mountain getaway as the ideal base camp.
Eat and shop in historic small town Fairplay, where you will find restaurants, shops, bars, cafes, and a scenic riverfront. There is also a grocery store and a rec center with an indoor pool. Fairplay also hosts Burro Days and other fun activities in the summer months.
World class skiing can be found in Breckenridge just an easy 23 mile drive (about 35 minutes) away on the other side of Hoosier Pass. The highway and pass are maintained year round, and there is also a convenient shuttle to Breckenridge from Fairplay and nearby Alma.
Nestled in the Mosquito Range, our cabin is a wonderful location to be your basecamp for your hiking or fishing adventures. You will find Mount Democrat, Mount Lincoln, Mount Sherman, and Quandary Peak among the famous Colorado 14er summits that are mere minutes from your doorstep. There is also easy access to fishing at the many reservoirs, lakes, and rivers nearby.
Please be prepared for winter driving conditions to access our cabin. The roads are maintained and plowed, but 4WD, AWD, or snow tires/chains are strongly recommended in snowy months (November-April), as it is steep and snow packed. While we have snow plowing to keep the driveway clear, it is scheduled according to storms and snow amounts - not on demand. There is a large flat area at the top of the driveway with ample parking space if snow is a concern.
You will love this authentic mountain experience!

Comfortable getaway with friends and family. It’s a bit of a drive to Breckenridge but overall very relaxing and quiet place. Will definitely stay here again perhaps during the summer.
We loved the place. A great basecamp for our snowy mountain getaway. We snowshoed around the area. And hung out at the basecamp.
The kitchen has everything you'll need. The wifi was very fast for us. And the driveway is not very steep (don't worry about it like I did)
We would return... and recommend it to friends.
The house is exactly as advertised. Spacious and clean. We visited in the summer, so the deck spectacular. The road is tricky to get to the house, dirt road with lots of ruts. Elevation is no joke at 11,000 feet. Great escape from it all though!
The cabin was perfect for our group of 5 weekend near Breckenridge! There were tons of heat options and thoughtful touches. You can’t beat the views from the porch!
This cabin was an amazing getaway. Beautiful scenery, great cabin, and just a great place. Property manager was quick to respond to a request was very accommodating. 5 stars!
Great place. The location was amazing, and the property itself was spacious and had everything we needed. Our check in day had some really bad weather, so our host allowed us to check in early, which really saved us.
We stayed in the summer and the view is godly. Very close to two towns with grocery and things to do. Hit 2 disc golf courses within 35 minutes of the home.
Clean and quiet with everything you need and close to lots of activitities
A group of 6 of us stayed, 4 adults and 2 teens and it was the perfect size for all of us to hang out or have the adults enjoy talking upstairs while the kids went downstairs with the TV. Had all the amenities you need for a cozy place to s after days spent hiking in continental divide, whitewater rafting in buena vista, horseback riding in FairPlay, and exploring the Weston Pass between FairPlay and Leadville. Ryan was a very responsive host and we had no problems at all during our stay. This was a great cabin, thank you Ryan, for providing a nice cabin for our stay in FairPlay!
I had a lovely stay here! It was very easy to access the property. There are gorgeous views of the mountains. It was very cool, even in the summer, which was a lovely break from the heat. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking tools and utensils, and all the basics for cooking in the cupboard. I used the fireplace, and its heat discharge is extremely effective. It was very cozy, as it was raining during almost my entire stay. Very relaxing! I found the wifi very reliable, the beds very comfortable, and even the towels and bath linens were good quality. Nothing about it felt cheap, which I feel like can be common in some rental places. Not here!My perspective on the dirt road - I felt extremely comfortable driving the dirt road in my Subaru Forrester, and I would have been fine doing this in my two wheel drive during the summer months too. I am pretty comfortable driving in the mountains, but even so, the 3 miles of road were in pretty decent shape. The one thing I will note is the elevation - having grown up camping and hiking in CO, I didn’t even think about it, but I did feel the elevation staying at 11k ft. I would, however, definitely stay again! Just a note if you’re coming out of state and aren’t used to high elevation.
