"Reception is open 24/7 and everyone was so kind and friendly. Rooms were immaculate including the bathrooms. Breakfast was good. Parking is a little complicated. We went in August and we reserved a parking spot anticipating that the street parking would be full but someone needs to open and close the gate for you every time you want to get in and out. Overall, highly recommend"

"Absolutely amazing vacation here! Friendly staff, delicious food, clean room and close to Taormina and Naxos beach shops Overall excellent!! Unfortunately some guests do not pick up after themselves so at times lobby not clean but that’s understandable Could not have asked for anything more!👍"

"Such a wonderful, charming and rustique property. The staff were so warm and welcoming and the views of Etna, spectacular! The delicious breakfast was home made using the fruits and honey produced on the property, and Francesca was so helpful and could always be contacted via whatsapp as staff are only available for a few hours in the morning and evening, so you are free to ventrure around the land, or chill out on the roof terrace as if its your own home. There are approx 7 cats who live at the property are very well looked after. The rooms was perfect, clean with a mini fridge and a good shower with communal terrace. The bed is a little hard, but you may like that! The small village of Calatabiano is authentically Sicilian with little to no English speakers, so if youre looking for a quiet and peaceful vacation, this is the place for you! I would advise hiring a car (or maybe the property can hire out bikes) as the old train station is not reliable. Taxis to Taorimina and Giardini Naxos are around €30 each way. The train to Catania, only €5 but plan your timings using the trenitalia website, as you cannot buy tickets at Calatabiano. Thank you for hosting us, we would come back in a heartbeat!"

"The room was nice with a balcony and a view from the bed to the mountains. The pool is lovely with a view through the valley to the sea. Breakfast was good, dinner served in the garden was great. It is a lovely rural location in an orchard. The staff and the owners were wonderful."

Shalai - Exclusive SPA and small gourmet hotel

"Our stay at Shalai was outstanding from start to finish. We received a warm welcome from a genuinely friendly and professional team. The hotel is set in a beautifully restored historic mansion on a quiet street, creating a peaceful and elegant atmosphere. Check-in was effortless. Our online check-in was fully recognized, so there was no need to repeat the process. No credit card was requested and payment was deferred until checkout, which was a pleasant surprise. The reception staff kindly introduced us to the hotel, showing the restaurant, lounge areas and spa services. Our room was spotless and very comfortable, with a king-size bed, excellent linens and towels, high-quality amenities, and complimentary water, coffee and tea. The bathroom was spacious and the shower had perfect water pressure and temperature. Although the hotel has no elevator, reaching the first-floor rooms via two short flights of stairs was easy. There is no private parking, but plenty of free street parking is available nearby, including spaces directly in front of the hotel. Breakfast was excellent, offering fresh fruit, yogurt, drinks and coffee, while all hot dishes are prepared à la carte, with delicious options such as croissants, eggs, omelets and sandwiches. The staff was consistently attentive, welcoming and professional. Our only suggestion would be to include hair conditioner among the bathroom amenities. Apart from that small detail, everything exceeded our expectations."
