"Building is in disarray, with things left all over the place. No one was at the front desk. Towels were not changed and our room was not refreshed for our second night. I planned to use my credit card but was told the machine wasn’t working and I had to pay cash, but wasn’t given a receipt. (I was finally emailed a receipt a day later, after I insisted on one.) I never did received the change from my cash payment. It was all quite strange."

"The lodge is beautiful in very peaceful area, it was very clean with everything we needed. We used it mainly for a base as we were traveling so only really slept there. The lodge is situated between 2 other properties and would benefit ( I’m my opinion) with blinds on all lower windows. The bed is very comfortable but a bit on the narrow side. "The Highland Hotel was very nice. As mentioned by others, it's in need of some love: new curtains, new bedding. However, that didn't change our experience. The restaurants were all nice and had much better food than their individual reviews suggested. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The rooms don't come with refrigerators but they offer to store anything you need in their main fridge. Our daughter loved the pool and the playground."

"Nice hotel. If you want a tv you need to have a room on the second floor but who needs a tv nowadays when there is WiFi. Very comfortable bed and lovely big bathroom."

"Tombeck was nice, roomy, comfortable. Had a large kitchen fully stocked with cookware, oven, stove, kettle, microwave. We liked the large wooden dining table. A great place from which to explore Tomintoul and the Cairngorms. Also has a washing machine and dryer, but no instructions so took some time to figure them out (and the washing machine makes a loud noise and really shakes while running)."

"Can’t say enough good things about Muckrach Country House. The home is absolutely gorgeous. Our room was stunning. We had absolutely the best nights sleep of our whole trip! More importantly Donnie and the staff are the sweetest people! We only got to stay one night but wish we had more time to stay. Absolutely book it, you won’t be disappointed."

"It was a strange smell between our room and the restaurant area where we had to pass through our bags! The staff are fairly helpful. The location was lovely, but unfortunately the shower in our room didn’t work very well."

"The hotel is centrally located on a quiet spot. However, there were no facilities available until 4pm. Our bathroom door would not shut properly and the shower was struggling to drain. The fan in the room was broken and there the room was missing the bath robes that had been promised."
