Lipstick on a Pig!

I have been renting from VRBO for over 10 years and have never left a poor review. I admit that my first choices for rentals in the area were already chosen so this was not a front runner. A bit out of the way, but according to the description an updated, clean, remodeled Gingerbread Cottage on Gingerbread Rd! My issue with the review doesn't have a lot to do with the cottage itself. It had everything listed and we were definitely comfortable and the interior was clean. The issue has to do with the VACASA property management system. They were totally non-responsive to issues that I merely wanted to inform them about to ensure future renters would want to come here! I always treat rentals like I would my own property, so I give feedback to owners with an "If I were you, I would want to know this . . . " So here goes: From VACASA you receive texts that are standard bots, that inform you that you can't get in until the check-in time of 4 pm as they are doing super cleaning of the property and don't allow for early entry. My beef is that if this is the case then I shouldn't find a property that has not been "super-cleaned" the day of my rental, but probably not rented, nor cleaned for a bit! The interior was fine, a few dust bunnies, but all in all, definitely clean to most people's standards. My issue was the covered screen porch. The table with table cloth was dusty and dirty and had mouse feces on it. The glass table in this room also had dirt on it as did the small table for drinks. As a courtesy, I called the VACASA number listed on the key I received and got a sales call for a medical alert system. I used the VRBO messaging system to inform the property managers of what we found on arrival to let the cleaners know not to miss this next time and that we had taken care of it. Overnight, we heard scratching in the ceiling tiles in the living room and the main bedroom, indicating that there was definitely a critter problem in the cottage! Again, I wrote the property managers through the VRBO messaging system to inform them that the owners would definitely want to know about this to take care of the situation for future renters. NOT A SINGLE RESPONSE! Bottom line is that this is a good rental, a cute cottage in a quiet area off the beaten path a bit, with some minor issues that could be taken care of immediately if anyone in property management is willing to listen to feedback. These owners need to consider new management!

Loved this house, super cute in a great location. The fenced in backyard was a bonus for our dog. The house had everything we needed and was close to some good hiking, Woodstock and Franconia. Can’t wait to visit again.

Comfortable Cottage Near Kinsman Ridge

This is a very comfortable and well stocked cottage with an amazing view of the Kinsman Ridge. We seriously enjoyed this wonderfully cleaned and very comfortable cottage. The fenced in back yard is a wonderful treat for family vacations that include canines!

Clean Quiet Getaway with the dogs

This was a very nice place to stay! The cottage was super clean and cozy, well equipped kitten, amazing view, awesome large fenced in back yard for the pups, quiet and private. Definitely would recommend for a quiet getaway.

Anniversary holidau

We came up to New Hampshire for our annual anniversary getaway. The White Mountains did not disappoint. We found plenty to see and do while here for 5 days. The house was perfect for us. We were able to enjoy the comforts of home while being away. The house was clean and it was easy to maintain.

Seclusion

This house is cozy, well kept and great for a dog or two. During a time when social distancing is a necessity. This location was just what the doctor ordered. A place to take walks with mountain view’s all around. A back yard to kick the ball to your fury friend, while having again beautiful views of the mountains. Cozy fires & plenty of games & puzzles to keep busy & bond with the ones you love. Recommend this house & location to anyone who wants peace & relaxation.

Clean n' Cozy Getaway

The house was very clean. Loved the open concept layout of the kitchen/dining/living room area. Bedrooms were cheery and nicely decorated. Great views. Privacy. Plenty of books to read, games to play. Netflix to binge ;) Very enjoyable place to get away from it all.

Everything was wonderful

The owners obviously take pride in their home. Newly planted mums in the front beds and seasonal door mats and coffee cups (pumpkins) were nice touches, but the best part was how clean and well equipped it was. Absolutely spotless with every utensil and appliance you could think of. (even the basement where the washer and dryer were was spotless). Comfy bed and our pup loved the fenced backyard. Cozy living room and a spacious dinning room. Internet was fair (I think it is DSL) but I suspect there aren't any other options. No cell service (Verizon). We were there for 8 days and would have liked somewhere to put trash and dog poop bags other than the kitchen trash can (I understand that an outside trash can would attract bears, but maybe put one in the mud room?). The VACASA manager that we met at the house (he was there to do a minor repair before we arrived) suggested calling him for a mid-stay trash removal, but we didn't bother. We enjoyed it and will be planning a trip their next year.

Great house in the White Mountains

We really enjoyed our week stay at the Gingerbread Cottage. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for a great stay. The kitchen was nicely provisioned with pans, utensils, and appliances. The bedrooms were nice and the bathroom was also very nice. The grounds were well cared for. We would definitely stay here again when we visit the White Mountains.

Cute, clean well provisioned, convenient location

This was a cute, unusually well provisioned and updated house. It is in a peaceful pretty location close to great hiking. We hiked all day and came back to make big meals. The kitchen was very clean and well set up for cooking. Tupperware, sugar, flour, vanilla, cocoa and several spices were already there. The fridge and microwave looked brand new. There was a blender, toaster, mixer, coffee pot (made up to 4 cups-filters provided), Keurig coffee maker, and tea kettle (stove top). The gas grill worked and grilling tools were provided. Any Baking and cooking pots and pans you would need are there. We used most of it and it was new and functional. All but one of the baking pans were new ( in my experience a rarity in VRBO places). The washer and drier worked well (we had some pretty muddy clothes from hiking) and looked brand new. The furniture in the family room was comfy and perfect for hanging out. The bathroom was spotless and plenty of towels were provided. The bedrooms were fine and the master bed was comfy (we didn’t use the other bed). The deck and porch were perfect for hanging out. There weren’t any bugs when we were there but I imagine the screened in porch would be awesome for a few summer months. Overall a great place we would rent again.

Charming Quiet House on Gingerbread Road

The house was very clean and cozy. Beds were comfortable. We loved the outdoor area with the fencing so that our dog could run around safely. The fire pit was also great for making s’mores at nighttime.

Very Comfortable!

I was very pleased with my visit to this house! The descriptions online were spot on! It is very cute, comfortable and well laid out. I couldn't believe how much the owner has stocked this house. It had EVERYTHING you could need. We wanted for nothing. Even things we forgot to bring they had there! We had a couple of very minor problems where we called the number for maintenance and an on-site local maintenance man named David got right back to us and was prepared to come right over. Turned out not to be necessary but he was very attentive. We had some family staying at a local campground come over for dinner and they couldn't believe how great this little gem of a house was. It was a wonderful, comfortable stay and I would definitely come back again.

Gingerbread Cottage Indeed!

This is a lovely little private home in Easton NH. It’s been beautifully redone and is very well kept. A bit like something out of a fairy tale - gorgeous wide pine floors and set in the middle of the woods. I was being displaced from my home for a couple of days for renovations and needed a place last minute that would accept dogs and this completely fit the bill. Even my Great Pyrenees acted like he was on vacation. Very nice and relaxing and I was able to work remotely as needed. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a lovely little private home in Easton NH. It’s been beautifully redone and is very well kept.
