Bear's Den Chalet Perfect Mountain Home

This is an amazing A-Frame cabin with a great view that has it all. It has a nice patio/deck with a picnic table to enjoy the view. Additionally, there is a deck off the front of the house with rockers to enjoy the view as well. The cabin has hardwoods throughout, but carpeting in the bedrooms, as well as Central Heat/Air. There are two bedrooms downstairs with queen-sized beds and scaling the spiral staircase to the loft renders a double bed.

Cozy cottage in beautiful setting

Loved the porch with a nice view of the mountains. Very homey and rustic interior. Stocked with everything we needed. Had an issue with a very strong sulfur smell from the hot water. We had to open doors and windows to clear the air. It cleared up after running the water for awhile, but we used bottled water for drinking just to be cautious.

Get Away

This was a perfect get away weekend. Home was located on the mountain in a nice neighborhood, close to shopping and dining. The home was comfortable and clean. We had a great visit and will be back again.

Charming Cabin

Charming cabin in great location near Franklin and surrounding towns. This cabin has easy access from highway and is only about a mile to the cabin. It is a paved road all the way. There is a moderate incline from the main road, but very easy. The cabin was nicely furnished with everything you need. Loved the gas logs in the fall. Would return.

No Bears at the Bears Den Just a fat groundhog

It has been a pleasure staying in your cabin. We took advantage of all the things you had to offer (the fireplace, the fire pit, the swings, the loft and the balcony) as well as the beautiful crisp cold weather. Loved the view of the sunsets on the porch while having coffee and rocking in the rocking chairs. The cabin itself is wonderfully decorated. We loved all the different bear decorations. Everything was easily accessible and beautiful. Rating would be 10 of 10. We would definitely come back in the future if able and also would recommend to other friends and family. Thanks again for a lovely family vacation from Florida.

Bike trip to NC

In the past visits to Franklin our group would book rooms at a local motel. We were glad we booked the bears den this year. While the location is somewhat secluded - there are plenty of dining/shopping options nearby. The house was well stocked with everything you might need for a family stay - but being three old guys we didn’t take advantage of everything there and opted to go out for our meals. We didn’t arrive until the evening of our checkin date and it would’ve been nice if the ac had been turned lower before our arrival. The loft bedroom was a little hot the first night but after that everything was fine. Overall we would recommend the bears den and probably use again if in the area.

Nice smaller mountain Chalet.

Quaint mountain Chalet with lots of outdoor activities in Franklin and nearby in other towns like Sylva, Highlands, Cashiers, Lake Glenville, and Georgia. Loft is cute but hotter temp. Nice Mountain View from the porch. 2 bathrooms are always a bonus feature. I’d return and definitely recommend this cabin.

Fall Trip

The photos of the home were appealing but once we arrived, there were several things that stood out that were disappointing. First, there was not enough storage for clothes. I ended up keeping my clothes in my suitcase which was more like a hotel vibe. My husband had some shirts that he hung on a door knob on the second closet which had a lot of misc. items. I was unsure if master bathroom had been cleaned as there was a wash cloth in the shower and the bath rug was stained with what looked to be food droppings. The main carpet in both bedrooms was very stained and disappointing. Dead flowers were in a vase on the front patio table and a rope was sitting in one of the chairs. There was not enough light to navigate the steps which is dangerous at night. The solar lights outside beside the steps were not functional. Maybe no one reported until now so I do not know for certain. The fireplace was nice and the shower head was amazing! We really enjoyed the water from the faucet as it had a nice refreshing taste. There were plenty of dishes and utensils. We did not cook much but there was not much storage space for groceries if you were to purchase food. I would prefer more storage over a wine bar. We had to put a stool beside the garbage can to block the path and to prevent from hitting our heads on the spiral staircase. The furniture in the Living room was not comfy for tall people. Never used the table as I prefer to have a chair and not a stool. The driveway has a lot of hidden spots that you are unable to see traffic and several curvy areas. No garbage pickup at all, so you have to get rid of your trash yourself. We were out late one evening and came back to find the gate locked with a metal sign for no trespassing. Made me wonder who did that and if they had been in the house. As far as proximity to the places we wanted to go, we had no issues with the location at all and found it convenient but would not rent again due to personal preferences. This is nothing against the owners, but just stating my preferences and comparing it to other places I have rented in the past.

Visit with daughter

My youngest daughter is a traveling nurse and my oldest daughter and her two daughters and I came up to visit for a few nights before Thanksgiving. This was my first VRBO experience. The property manager was very accommodating. The property was lovely. All the little decorations were very welcoming and warm. We really appreciated the kid friendly amenities (games,, swing, etc) we’re an extra touch. The appliances are new, in great working order, and the water pressure was great. This is a very quaint and lovely home to rent. You will NOT be disappointed.

Comfy and Convenient

Cabin had everything we needed for an enjoyable trip. Especially enjoyed the gas fireplace on the cool evenings. An outdoor grill of some sort would have been a nice addition.

Perfect getaway

This was a perfect place to chill and enjoy the view!! Coffee in the mornings on the side porch was AMAZING, and the sunset was beautiful!! Perfect spot!

Perfect view

Loved our stay in this perfectly situated and beautifully decorated home. It was so nice to be able to turn on the gas logs or have a glass of wine on the porch and enjoy the view. I definitely recommend this cabin!

Wonderful Gem of a cabin

What a wonderful getaway! This cabin is a great place to stay. You can easily access other towns (Waynesville, Sylva, Asheville, Bryson City). It has everything you need for a great family mountain vacation. The beds are very comfortable and the cabin is fully stocked for anything you need including the kitchen. The television has Netflix and other streaming services attached for viewing pleasure. They also offer wifi for any electronics. Everyone in my family loved this cabin, including the teenagers. The view is amazing. I would definitely recommend anyone to rent this cabin for a stay.

Bear's Den Franklin

Great property with a remote wilderness feel yet very close to town. Great access to main Highways to be able to get to hiking and all other adventures and attractions.

Very nice rustic cottage. We would rent again!

We were pleased. Very close to downtown Franklin. Plenty of parking. Nicely furnished A-frame cabin in quiet surroundings.

Lovely long weekend getaway

We had a perfect long weekend. The cabin is easily accessible and perfectly equipped for a weekend away with low/no contact for a safe COVID-19 retreat. Close to great hiking and amazing waterfalls.
