"Check in was smooth and the staff was friendly, however when I got to my room the bathroom smelled strongly of pee. And I hadidea if that was the drain system or the toilet. I cleaned it myself, because I don’t speak Japanese heads up for foreign visitors."

There is even some free curry/rice dinner as well. The prices are also affordable! I highly recommend Toyoko Inn hotels, there are many of these hotels around Japan and they all very high quality. "Have stayed here a couple of times in the past. The hotel is nice, inexpensive, clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. All in all, it's a good choice for a night's rest. Location is not great. While it's just across the road from Shimonoseki strait coastline, access to the shoreline is very limited by industrial areas. Also very limited dining options, outside the hotel's onsite dining room."
