We were a group of 4 couples and had the most enjoyable weekend in Galena and staying at our spacious yet cozy home. Perfect location just outside the entrance to downtown. Spacious deck to socialize, cozy and comfortable rooms and beautiful and creative decor throughout the home. The home had everything you needed and the heated floors were a bonus! Would definitely stay again.
The location was wonderful. So close to shops and restaurants in downtown Galena. Everything was clean, response from host was quick, and had an overall great experience.
Our group included four sisters and our four adult daughters. We had an amazing time shopping, dining, and doing the distillery tour. The location of the house is a PERFECT walking distance to the Main Street shops and restaurants.
Weekend girls trip ages 27 to 86. Beautiful home within walking distance to the little shops, winery's and the most delicious restaurants. This hidden gem is as close as you can get to right out of a Hallmark movie. We will definitely return!
This house was perfect for our girls trip. We enjoyed spending time in the house hanging out in the living room. It was also a short walk to downtown, which was perfect for us.
We played board games and ordered in pizza our first night. The second day we spent shopping and tasting wines. We had tons of fun at the Scent Workshop. Dinner at Fries Green Tomatoes. We had plenty of room for 8 young ladies. We rented the entire house. Perfect location for walking.
Such a wonderful stay in Galena thanks to our hostess and her riverside home.
Easy walking to Grants Park, Park Avenue, downtown, Trolly tours, fine dining. Then back to enjoy a glass of wine on the deck where deer and squirrels came to visit! Great place to stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at this home. It was perfect for our group of 8 adults! The location proved to be perfect - we didn't need to drive anywhere as it was located right at the beginning of the historic district. The keypad entry was an easy solution to various comings and goings of everyone. We would recommend this location for your stay in Galena!
You can't beat the location (just outside of the floodgates) and I was surprised by the size of the rooms (there's one bedroom on the first floor and three bedrooms upstairs). We got use out of the first-floor kitchen, back family room, and the deck. Everything was clean and organized.
This is an excellent location. Only reason for 4 rating is the temperature- the thermostat is controlled remotely and it was very warm - power went out one night (out of owners control). The upstairs rooms got warm at night. We did enjoy the space and location!
Had a great girls weekend get away!
This property is well maintained, clean, and very close to downtown Galena.
Check in was easy and had no trouble with parking.
This property sits just on the end of main street outside the floodgates. While this property is right on main street and downtown, this can be deceiving for some people as main street itself is quite long and it is still a walk from one end to the other.
We did Kayak with Nuts Outdoors. The information within the condo is outdated as the prior company is no longer in business.
We really enjoyed this property. There were 6 of us, we rented the entire house, and we felt we had plenty of room. There is one chair in the living that the leather is peeling off and needs replaced. The beds were extremely comfortable! We would recommend having a curtain on the front door glass window. There is also one bedroom upstairs without a door that we would recommend possibly putting some sort of curtain across it for some privacy.
There is a cute outside patio to use when the weather is nice. We did not spend a significant amount of time in the house so did not utilize the kitchen much other than for snacking and light breakfast.
One note- There is a very strict no party rule at this property in addition to strict rules on guests and visitors. So if you want to "party" this is definitely not the rental for you.

Good location, Clean and Well Kept
The price was reasonable and the location was great (and if that's key for you, this is your spot), it was - on balance - just average. What did we like? The beds were comfortable; ample and comfortable linens, etc. The place was very clean and appeared very well kept. The internet connection worked great. Also, the owner was pretty responsive when we needed questions answered. (But we were never able to figure out how to use the satellite TV for some sporting events we were hoping to watch and didn't want to keep bothering the owner -- Recommend they put better TV instructions in the unite).
What we didn't care for: parking is available only on the street and you can't keep cars on street all night every night of the week (so depends when you're going to be there ... but check that). The kitchen was really too small for a group our size (we had 8 women). Not much counter space (although there is an island). We didn't do much cooking, but if we had planned to do so, that kitchen could have been a real challenge! The downstairs bathroom is nice, but the upstairs bathroom is small (consistent with the age of the house). Because the house is older, some of the doors tend to be really creaky at night. But the biggest issue for us was that the "family room" just didn't have enough seating for a group our size -- one couch and two chairs (while comfy) just weren't enough. If the weather had been nice, we may have been able to enjoy the outdoor space, which seemed really nice, but it was too cold/rainy for us to enjoy anything outdoors. In addition to not having much room in the family room, there was no common dining area or large table for us all to sit around together at once. That might have been nice to have had a large table where we could all be seated.
So, in conclusion, so great things to like about this ... and a few that we found not as great! But can't beat the location if you want to be close to downtown Galena.
