"The included breakfast was fantastic. Many options and the fresh fruit salad was good quality. Clean and useful bedroom and bathroom with comfy bed and duvet. We had 6 flights of stairs to our room which was fine and expected. The location is a long way from the seaside action but again, expected."

"The staff member was ver helpful but parking was troublesome as it was very tight. There was another car park around the back which was much more accessible. Have advice of places to eat in nearby area. All good. "

Grand Hotel Scarborough

"The building is so beautiful. Absolutely grand. The location and views from the sun terrace are phenomenal. The staff are great, there's always tea and coffee available for the room and there was entertainment in the evening. Such a big, old hotel must have a laundry list of repairs and maintenance challenges. The windows were dirty, water marks or paint peeling off here and there. You can see where walls have been painted without sanding first, so there's unevenness. Old wooden window frames etc. But it looks like they're always addressing something. It's the sheer volume. Unfortunately there was a lift out of order. Such a massive hotel without a lift ( for the 3 days I was there). The bathroom in my room had a massive bath and a shower head. As it was the top floor the ceiling was slopped so I couldn't stand up straight, I'm 5' 7". The paint was falling off too. Apart from that the room was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. One thing I didn't know is that they don't service the rooms every day (on stays of less than 5 days), but they leave plenty of towels. The parking permits if you drive there and manage to park outside work very well. I added breakfast, which I thought it was OK. Not a lot of variety. All in all, I'd probably stay there again as It is a dog friendly hotel and love the location, views and a comfortable bed!"

"We love the hotel and its previous grandeur. I think some guests expect too much of the hotel but all the staff are extremely friendly,helpful and try their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This is an iconic building and hotel in Scarborough a fantastic east coast location should be cherished as a gem in progress"

The Old Lodge

"A lovely old mansion undergoing renovation and upkeep in keeping with it's age. Scaffolding on the outside wall which made the entrance rather difficult to find especially as the sign was rather small. Lovely room, stone which kept it cool (much appreciated) but of course no double glazing which made it noisy from the families shouting and drinking with the children screaming and running, as they do! Actually the adults were louder than the children! Bed was comfy, room had both a fan and a heater, towels were plentiful and shower, when I worked out how to get hot water, was good. Lovely sitting area, plenty of parking so overall, recommended"
