"The ElkHaven Resort cabins are convenient to everything around Custer State park. I could get anywhere within 30 minutes. I especially enjoyed the Sylvan Lake area. Only 5 minutes to downtown Custer (and Mt. Rushmore Brewing Co.) The cabin was perfect for a multi-day stay as it was away from the crowds and noise. You could feel alone from the world with an evening drink on the porch. The only negative was the evening sun through the large window made the front room very hot. I highly recommend this place for an out of the way yet convenient stay. I was a solo traveler this trip but it would also be great for families."

"I really liked this location. It was close to Custer State Park (I wanted to see bison), it was close to Sylvan Lake Lodge (trailhead for Black Elk Peak hike) and there wasn't a lot of light pollution at night, so stargazing was possible. The A-frame was cozy and the bed was comfortable. I appreciated the heated mattress pad as it got down to 40 degrees overnight. The grounds were well kept and gorgeous... lots of pine trees, birds and deer. I would stay here again."
