Good central location between GAMA and 1st Avenue mall with coffee shops and restaurants nearby, or a short GRAB ride away. Rooms are clean, small and relatively comfortable. The price is reasonable for what you get. Maid service every other day. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Penang stay in Cititel Express in year 2023

Overall is perfect, location wise and the front desk staff is helpful and cheerful. Except for the room cleaning is happened only two days once. During my 5 days 4 night stay only tidy up the room once. Another issue is the central air-conditioning, it seems like is over-usage by the hotel guest, it quite stuffy during the mid-night. Lastly is the pillow quite soft and wear and teared, could not support the neck and head in proper position. Lucky housekeeping has the additional pillow to provide. Finally is just a qurious query why some of the vacant room's door is not close completely? Morning, afternoon, evening is still the same status, it make me quite worry and scary feelings. i did inform the front desk, but no action has been taken.

I've previously enjoyed my stay at the Ipoh Cititel Express, so I decided to stay at the George Town branch. A little bit disappointed at the condition of my room, you can tell that while the room has indeed been refurbished, it is starting to show signs of wear. The towel railing in the bathroom is falling apart. The wallpaper is peeling. The air-conditioning may need servicing. The parking elevator always has a smell. And the towels also has a peculiar odour, making me question the hotel's cleanliness protocol. I also wouldn't recommend this hotel for light sleepers, as the walls, windows and doors are not at all soundproof. On top of being able to hear all the noise from the street level, I could hear the opposite room's early morning cellphone alarm which unfortunately rang for hours. If you do stay here, please stay as far away from the elevators as possible. As for everything else - reception was fine and courteous if a little clumsy during the check in process. Parking was straightforward and fairly easy to access. Rooms are a little bit tiny, but is adequate for a solo stay. Rooms are also equipped with most basic necessities, including kettle, mini fridge, hair dryer, towels, slippers, mugs, TV. The hotel is right opposite a mall. A bunch of eateries and cafes, 7-11, are all easily accessible by foot. Fairly central location and you can get to most of the famous spots easily. Overall, your mileage may vary. For me, this place is just fine, could have been better.
