About this property

Lake Eufaula Log Cabin, Private Dock, Premier Hunting

  • Welcome to Don Quixote (Don Kee-HO-tay)—our cozy Swedish-style log cabin tucked among an acre of hardwood trees on a peaceful bluff overlooking beautiful Lake Eufaula.
This is a place to slow down a little.
Wake up for an early morning of fishing. Spend the day exploring the lake. Gather in the kitchen for a home-cooked meal, settle in for a movie, watch the sunset through the trees or end the evening sharing stories around the fire.
Whether you’re bringing the family, escaping as a couple, meeting up with old friends or planning a fishing and boating getaway, we hope Don Quixote feels like a comfortable place to reconnect with the people who matter most.
A LAKEFRONT SETTING BESIDE THE WILDLIFE REFUGE
Our cabin sits adjacent to the 11,184-acre Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge and is just steps from the Lake Eufaula shoreline.
A permitted private aluminum dock rests along the shoreline. Because this beautiful area is protected federal land, our dock is intentionally modest in size and removable and is maintained in accordance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requirements.
Guests have used the dock for fishing boats and pontoons and have kept their boats at the shoreline overnight. Please note that the dock does not have dedicated boat cleats or tie handles, so guests are responsible for bringing appropriate equipment and safely securing their own watercraft.
The lake, wildlife and changing skies make every visit a little different—and some of our favorite moments here are the quiet ones spent simply enjoying the view.
BRING THE BOAT. BRING THE FISHING GEAR.
Lake Eufaula is known for its fishing, and Don Quixote makes a comfortable home base for early mornings on the water and long lake days.
Our driveway offers ample parking for up to four vehicles and boats. It is approximately 78 feet long, 15 feet wide at the entrance and widens to approximately 29 feet near the cabin.
Nearby recreation areas and boat ramps provide convenient lake access.
Prefer to let someone else plan the adventure? Locally owned businesses in the area offer guided fishing excursions, boat rentals, kayak rentals and tours, and bike rentals. We’re happy to share our local recommendations.
    A CABIN MADE FOR GATHERING
Don Quixote is a unique three-level log cabin with plenty of space to come together and cozy corners to enjoy a little quiet time.
    UPPER LOFT
At the top of the cabin, the loft features the primary suite with a king-size bed and private bathroom.
A charming interior bridge connects the suite to an office, reading and game area. Curl up with a book, enjoy a quiet cup of coffee or catch up on a little work before heading back to the lake.
MAIN LEVEL — THE HEART OF THE CABIN
The main level is where everyone seems to naturally gather.
The spacious kitchen gives you room to prepare meals and snacks while still being part of the conversation. Bar-style seating for five provides additional space for morning coffee, quick breakfasts and late-night conversations.
Sink into the oversized sectional and enjoy a movie, game day or a quiet evening in front of the 65-inch Smart TV.
Two sleeper chairs tucked into a cozy alcove recline into twin-size sleeping spaces. They’re also a convenient option for guests who may find the stairs to the upper or lower levels challenging.
A full bathroom with shower is located on this level.
LOWER LEVEL — ROOM TO SPREAD OUT
A narrow spiral staircase leads to the lower level, where you’ll find two additional bedrooms, a laundry room and a third full bathroom with shower.
One bedroom offers two double beds.
The larger bedroom includes a queen-size bed, two twin beds and a futon, giving families and groups flexible sleeping arrangements.
Two doors lead directly outside toward the fire pit seating area and lake views.
The lower level can also be reached from exterior stairs off the south-side porch or by following the downward slope from the driveway.
PACK LESS. SETTLE IN. STAY AWHILE.
We know how quickly the car fills up when you’re packing for a family trip, fishing weekend or lake getaway.
That’s why we try to provide many of the little things travelers often forget—or end up buying after they arrive.
You’ll find complimentary coffee and snacks along with select essential toiletries, body-care items, razors, dental kits and laundry supplies.
The cabin is equipped with a whole-house water filtration system and ice maker, and firewood is stocked for guest use.
Traveling with little ones? We also provide baby and toddler essentials to help lighten the load and make family travel a little easier.
    YOUR LAKE EUFAULA HOME BASE
Don Quixote is conveniently located for exploring both the Georgia and Alabama sides of Lake Eufaula.
Spend your days fishing, boating, hiking, golfing, wildlife watching or exploring nearby parks. Wander through historic Eufaula, visit beautiful historic homes and museums or take a day trip to Providence Canyon—Georgia’s “Little Grand Canyon.”
Seasonal farms, orchards and family attractions are also within driving distance, and Columbus, Georgia, and the National Infantry Museum are less than an hour away.
Our Welcome Book includes detailed local attractions, boat access and recreation areas, dining recommendations and locally owned businesses offering fishing excursions, boat rentals, kayaking experiences and bike rentals.
    Come for the lake.
    Stay for the sunsets.
And leave with a few new stories to tell.
