"Easy and efficient check-in. Friendly professional receptionist. Good sized rooms and well equipped. Only negative I can mention was our evening dining experience. Stood for at least 10 minutes waiting to be seated which was hard for my elderly father and as we were only people waiting. All young waiting and bar staff who seemed quite inexperienced. Poor knowledge of the menu, brought out the wrong wine . Were friendly and trying hard, maybe they were short staffed but food wasn't as good as expected for the prices they are charging. I was a chef for 20 years and was disappointed with the lamb. Quite chewy and vegetables were swimming in water. 75 quid for 2 mains and cheapest bottle of wine. Wouldn't go back for dinner but hotel was very good . "

"The Talbot Hotel is a beautifully restored coaching inn that is so welcoming, has a great restaurant in the best setting. For us, it was as if we discovered an oasis on out travels. I will now be looking for the other inns that this group has renovated."

This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel and we would definately stay again. Car park and outside area does not do the actual hotel justice."
