Hotel is nice but rooms are dated. No USB sockets in room and plug sockets are very old - round pins. The room has a safe but this is not fixed and can easily be picked up. The room was clean but basic.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were upgraded to a larger room on arrival, it was clean, spacious and had all the usual amenities including a coffee machine, a bonus. The food menu in the restaurant was very good, the drinks menu in the cocktail bar was good and had comparable pricing. The spa and pool areas were clean with plenty of sunbeds. The hotel is in it's own grounds with loads of parking and EV charging available. It is relatively close to local amenities including a lovely country park for walking or entertaining the children. The breakfast was buffet style quite busy but everything was available and the staff coverage was good.

It was our second stay at McDonald Crutherland House Hotel and we were disappointed in the lack of care and attention that we received this visit. We ran low on toilet roll and asked the front desk twice and still never received an extra toilet roll. We had to ration our last 1/4 roll very carefully! Breakfast service was awful on one morning, the server completely ignored us, served two other people before us who had arrived after us. They had their food before we’d even placed our order. I’m not sure if she just decided she didn’t like us or what, but it was very intentional. The bed smelled vaguely of onions and the decor is very dated and worn. Only one outlet was usable for our adapter and no extra outlets for cell/computer charging. It felt very different from the last time we visited a few years ago and we won’t likely be staying next time.

Having the use of the pool was great for all of us, the children loved being able to use it when we arrived and in the morning before breakfast. The breakfast was good and staff friendly, the room was looking a little tired but clean and the grounds very nice.

Staff were very friendly. Building is so very tired and need of refurbishment. Carpets and deco in bedroom is all worn out. To be fair it was clean. Shower was just about dripping out water. To be fair I didn't complain about shower because I was using shower in swimming pool. Breakfast was average Swimming pool, sauna,steam room and changing rooms were excellent and only thing that was 4 star. I wouldn't stay again. A reflection on the ownership and not the friendly staff.

We were in room 220 and the shower door did not keep the water in so the bathroom floor was flooded every time you took a shower. There are a lot of doors going from section to section some push some pull - that was a pain. The breakfast was substantial and delicious. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Wallpaper peeling in some areas. Needs a little TLC. The grounds are beautiful and well tended. We did like it apart from the shower situation.

Not our favourite hotel. We booked a suite as a celebration for 2 nights and was allocated the Highfields Suite. To get to the Suite there were stairs to the lift, then after the lift there was another 2 sets of stairs. Although the latter set of stairs had disabled lifts 1 was out of order. Once in the room it was freezing as no heating had been left on. Lovely spacious room though and massive bathroom....unfortunately freezing cold and a window that overlooked a flat room that needs privacy film added to it. We could tell the room had recently been decorated which was nice. The bed was very comfortable. The evening meal in the restaurant was nice and the staff attentive. First morning we were ready at 8am. No hot water. We contacted reception and were told that workmen were on site and the hot water had drained away due to 'early checkouts'. Why would the manager allow hot water to be turned off at peak time of use? We were told it would take 20 minutes to re heat but it was at least an hour. No heating in bathroom as we were told the fuses had been taken out of the electric towel rails We went out for a few hours and hoped that housekeeping had attended to our room by the time we returned at 1pm. Unfortunately they hadn't so we put the do not disturb sign up. Later (4pm) I asked reception for more coffee sachets and toilet roll. It never arrived. By the second afternoon the room had heated up nicely. The next morning we had to leave early. No one was on reception.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the mattress needs replaced. No fridge in the room. No bottled water provided in the room. The bathroom has mould around the tub and sink. No aircon in the room. Very expensive drink even for a hotel. Very limited choice of drinks.

The ground are beautiful the hotel is dated rooms are over looked by other rooms and there are no net curtains or similar so if you want privacy you have to close the thick curtains and have Yr lights on in the say time not ideal. Not many plug sockets in the room so you have to choose between having lights at your bed side or charging your phone. Lots of phone sockets but no phone to phone front desk or housekeeping as suggested by info in the room. Bedroom door did not lock and walls very thin woken by people in the corridors. The hot water in the bathroom very hot no warning of how quickly it gets hot

Great place to stay. Hotel is kept in kind of dated 70's wallpaper style but it's very clean. Not well maintained you can see lack of proper finish after repairs. As always staff makes a fantastic job keeping guests happy. You can get amazing sleep with huge comfy and clean beds. Breakfast wise great choice both continental and cooked options. Swimming pool / leisure centre is highly recommended.

The long driveway builds great expectation, unfortunately, that’s where it stops. Overall the hotel is in desperate need of a full renovation. I believe I stayed in Woodlands, light bulbs were missing, mould on the windows and significant paint peeled off the bathroom windows. The carpet looked like it needed a thorough deep clean. The pool area was served by great friendly staff, if only that service was carried over o to the bar area and the breakfast staff. The pool area again, but s in need of a refresh, the roof is in poor condition with lots of rust visible. The evening meal was mediocre at best, The Hake was turning grey and the service was very inattentive even though the bar area was very quiet. However, the service from reception from check in and check out was great, just a shame about the rest.

Ist komplett ungeschult und unhöflich, es gibt keine Telefone auf dem Zimmer und unter der Nummer ist die Rezeption nicht erreichbar, Toilettenspülung hatte nicht funktioniert, der Handtuchhalter ist einfach abgefallen nachdem man das Handtuch hingehängt hatte, die Dusche ist komplett undicht gewesen und der Spa-Bereich war nicht lohnenswert. Das Frühstück wird als großes Frühstück betitelt ist jedoch nur als kleine Auswahl und alles andere was man dazu möchte muss separat bezahlt werden.

I will definitely not be staying there again. I had bite marks all over, no AC in the rooms, rooms out dated. The breakfast is basic for what you pay for, and had to pay extra for anything I wanted, like poached eggs. It was an horrible experience, the hotel needs a refurb or shutting down.
