"Check in was great, nice & easy and the room was ready straight away. The room was a twin, a great size but very tired. The carpet could do with changing and the shower sealant definitely needs re-doing as it was black in areas. Breakfast was plentiful, could have been warmer but nothing too drastic. "Turned up to be told the manager was out and wouldn’t be back for half an hour at least, so we couldn’t check in. So had to sit and wait (we were supposed to be getting ready for a wedding). Manager treated us as though we were some sort of nuisance wanting to check in. So after nearly 45 min she arrived and asked for a £200 deposit… this wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the listing. "The rooms. at the Essex Golf and Country Club are very nice and super clean. Be aware there is no in-room ac that we could find and just the smallest desk fan in the room but perhaps this is only an issue for 3 weeks a year! We arrived late (9.30pm) and check was smooth, went to the room and unpacked and notice in the room directory suggested the bar was open until 10.30pm. We meander up only to be informed that last orders was at 10pm so we would only be permitted to purchase one drink. Then...
