"Friendly and helpful hosts at all stages, from booking to check out. They sent info on Matera early on and gave great suggestions for scenic walks and restaurants. The room was quiet, basic and comfortable. Just a 5-minute walk to an entrance into one of the sassi, and most key sites and activities are walkable."

The spa circuit was amazing, and the included buffet breakfast was fantastic, especially with the made-to-order options. We would highly recommend this place."

"We absolutely loved our stay at Cenobio Hotel in Matera. Staying in a cave hotel was such a unique experience and felt like the perfect way to experience the Sassi, while still being incredibly comfortable. The climate-controlled air conditioning worked wonderfully, and the room was a welcome retreat after spending the day exploring Matera. What really made our stay exceptional, though, was Mario. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to take care of us. He met us in the piazza where our taxi dropped us off and helped us carry our luggage to the hotel, which we greatly appreciated given Matera’s many steps and stone streets! He was also incredibly helpful during our stay, including assisting us with restaurant reservations. The combination of the beautiful cave accommodations, wonderful location, and genuinely personal hospitality made this one of the memorable stays of our trip through Italy. We would highly recommend Cenobio to anyone visiting Matera and would happily stay here again."

"Brilliant hotel has everything needed, unfortunately they was doing works on bottom floor but can only imagine how beautiful it will look when done. Reception staff could be a little more friendly as I did ask a question one morning about getting to a town and had eyes rolled at me. But overall clean and nice hotel definitely want to return."

The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were so kind, welcoming, and pleasant. Everyone made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. We genuinely enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a special experience in Matera."

"Hotel is located in a quiet industrial area outside town. Takes 15 min to drive to the old town but we had no problem finding a paid parking lot. Hotel is new and impeccably maintained. Great breakfast. Nice pool. We’d definitely stay there again next time we’re in Matera."
