This is a superb place to stay, especially with a dog. I traveled with a well-behaved 20 lb terrier, and the beds were comfortable, the water was hot and plentiful in the shower, and most of all, the grounds and proximity to hiking trails made it worthwhile. The food in the restaurant from breakfast to dinner was outstanding. I would come back here in a heartbeat. This is an exceptional property in the beautiful Black Forest. It is a newer property with good sized comfortable rooms, an exceptional breakfast, and great hiking within steps of the hotel. I also appreciated how close it was to the train station. Highly recommend.

We loved this hotel. We had a bit of a time finding it, but we were really happy with the stay there. The breakfast had EVERYTHING and was very good. I really loved the parlor off the bedroom; I did not expect to have a second room. It had a couch, table, shelf unit and television. It was perfect for watching TV and not disturbing someone sleeping! The proprietors were so friendly and helpful; we really liked them.

The hotel is very clean and quaint. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast it’s very good. And the location was extremely close to the waterfalls and tourist type shopping. The view from our room was beautiful.

Charming guest house in the middle of the Black Forest run by a sixth generation husband and wife team. The husband, Herr Reutlinger, is also an accomplished chef and the inn is featured in various restaurant guides, including Michelin Germany. This means you can enjoy a quiet stay in a small village and then have a world class meal at night!

Victor and Astrid were wonderful hosts who went out of their way to insure we enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend Engel 16.

Modern hotel in old town. Outstanding base for exploring the Black Forest.

Wonderful staff and family environment. Great home cooking with traditional fair. Great rooms, very clean and very comfortable bed. Stars at night are brilliant. Absolutely recommend and will be back.
