"I've been travelling in hostals since 35 years. I have never seen so dirty rooms. The place is great, but I felt really not comfortable, and I moved out from hostal as soon as I was able to do. The patio is great, the peole nice, but the rooms have to be redone totally. It's definitly awfull. And I'm not talking about the bathrooms."

"Special mention to the front desk person Sandy. She really helped me out with flight changes, went above and beyond. The room was nice, sharing one bathroom with 6 people it was quite dirty but once the cleaners came through it was fine. great location and if you aren't there in the morning for breakfast they make a sandwich for you to take with you. "

"Hotel Sol is an excellent choice to stay when visiting the Panajachel area. Unlike many other places in the area, the building is secure, very clean, the rooms are big, the shower (hot and cold water) actually works, and the staff are attentive and helpful. Although the hotel is in the periphery of Panachel, for less than $1 (5 quetzales) you can hop into a tuck-tuck and go anywhere in Panajachel. I have stayed in several places in the area and Hotel Sol is my number one choice."

"Rooms where clean but one the blanket of the three bed had musty smell and the door was missing the handle that you pull to open the door from the inside. to open the door you had to use the tip of your finger to pull the Thumbturn knob. Wife broke a nail trying to open door. FYI: Rooms don’t have mosquito nets"
