Com a falta de uso o castelo foi-se degradando. Recentemente foi recuperado e classificado como Monumento Nacional. É também considerado Patrimônio Mundial pela UNESCO. Um lugar cheio de história e que foi berço de Portugal. Não é à toa que em um pedaço da muralha original tem os dizeres “Aqui nasceu Portugal”. The Castle of Guimarães began with a monastery built by Mumadona Dias in the 10th century, before, therefore, the formation of Portugal. As the attacks of the Moors were frequent they decided to build a wall to protect the community and the monks that lived inside. It was this fort that gave origin to the Castle of Guimarães. Later, in the twelfth century, it was in this castle that Dom Afonso Henriques was born. Some years after he would become the first king of Portugal. With the lack of use the castle was degrading. Recently it was recovered and classified as National Monument. It is also considered World Heritage by UNESCO. A place full of history and that was cradle of Portugal. It is no wonder that in a piece of the original wall has the words "Here was born Portugal".

Best part was the friendly staff and location. On the downside, the room has an odor of cleaning products and something else. It’s quite run down but the bathroom was nice with good water pressure and even a bath tub. Bed to hard for my liking. Plus side window that could be opened to let air in.

Great value for what we paid, 2 female senior citizens. Affordable hotel in a nice and convenient spot next to shopping center and major bus hub and in the middle of city center. Train station about 6 minutes away by local bus right by the hotel entrance . Very clean and staff were very friendly and accommodating. We’ll return and we’ll recommend to our family and friends!

The hotel could use some renovation. Our room was at the end of the hallway and for some reason it was very hot even though the outside temperatures were cool. The front desk service was super good and friendly and it was good value for money. We had our little dog with us and they were very welcoming.

Great for Travelers without Cars

We visited Guimaraes during the off-season and enjoyed our stay at the Ibis in city center. It was conveniently located near the Shopping Center, Mercado, and historic old town with easy walking areas nearby. They accommodated our dog for $15/night, though we couldn't leave her unattended and she was not allowed in most of the lobby area. There were five hotel parking spots in front of the building, one for handicap parking and one for electric charging. Paid street parking was also nearby, you just had to be careful with timing. The hotel was convenient for people traveling by bus but a little difficult to find street parking and I can imagine that in the summer it would be even more of a challenge.

Liegt praktisch am Fernbusbahnhof

Von und zum Fernbusbahnhof nur über die Strasse, das ist prima. Auch ein Einkaufszentrum liegt nebenan. Zum Fußballstadion sind es etwa 500m Ansonsten halt ein ibis Hotel. Die unterscheiden sich nicht stark untereinander. Es war sauber, das Personal freundlich, alles gut. Kein übertriebener Luxus. Gerne wieder, wenn es unkomplziert und günstig sein soll.

出張の際に利用しています。バスターミナルのすぐ近くなので空港に行くのにもほかの都市からのアクセスにも非常に便利です。スタッフは皆さんとてもフレンドリーで感じが良いです。ギマランイスの歴史地区まで徒歩10～15分くらいで散歩するにも非常に良い場所で、大きなショッピングセンターやスーパーも近くにあるのでとても便利です。また利用させていただきます。
