Staff left and was unable to check in for 30 minutes. Called prior to arriving stating we would be checking in late in the evening. The on duty staff left and no one was manning the desk until another worker arrived at the hotel 30 minutes later.

The staff were very friendly and helpful regarding questions about the area . When the hurricane Isaias was forecasted to landfall in the immediate area our Front Desk lady was Super helpful and directed us to move north of the Intercoastal Waterway Bridge on 59 ,knowing they would close it . That info was important because they did close the Bridge by noon . If we go back we will stay at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites IGH on Rt 59 Gulf Shores ,Alabama . Aside from all that it is perfectly located with an easy drive down to the beach , with The Cove Bar and Grill right next store and Happy Pappy's coffee house within walking distance .

Owners / management are investing in updates, but attention needs to be focused on housekeeping and cleaning of rooms, bathrooms (mold & mildew in shower), AC filters, elevators, floors all were dirty. Couldn’t do laundry, had no laundry stuff to sell us. Every single day our key would get wiped out. The breakfast was always empty and I was down by atleast 7 every morning. Never restocked not. The food was terrible also in it. The light in shower and vent didn’t work. Sink in bathroom didn’t work and room phone didn’t work

I felt the property was not maintained and dirty. My room had broken floor tiles and stains on the carpet and bedding. When i went to take a shower in the morning there was no hot water. When I was checking out I was going to report the issue but there was no one at the counter. Carpet in hallway was stained. There was a dead bird on one of the pool chairs. I told front desk but it was there for the rest of the day.

The room was just what we needed to be comfortable. Breakfast every morning was good. Biscuits and gravy, eggs. Sausage, cereals and yogurt. Jim that checked us in made us feel very welcome. He took the time to stand and say hello and talked if we stopped to chat. He made you feel very much at home. With it just s mile from the beach location was also good.

The room was fine. I was disappointed they don’t have coffee makers or hair dryers in the room anymore. Also the handle on the shower fell off when I turned on the water. Also the tub was a little rusty and needs refinishing. The night shift guy was very nice as well the morning girl but when ask about a hair dryer I was told they will bring it right up. I waited an hour and just didn’t worry about it.
