"The beds were very thin mats on the floor with the worst pillows ever and terrible duvets, more like a quilt in an exposed duvet cover. The room was large but empty. After a long day of taking multiple trains I could have cried. It was pretty much like sleeping on the floor, with sketchy bedding, two sparse threaded towels, the toilet didn’t flush very good and the bidet sprayed water on the floor. It was the worst room I’ve ever stayed at and yet paid $370 Yen for one night. Do yourself a favor...

"Our stay at Ruokan Hiyoshi was the highlight of our day trip to Chichibu. "Nicer Ryokan for the area. Obvious reason to stay is to visit the Shibu Onsen facilities and the Snow Monkey Park and this is a great option for those activities. Pretty close to the Shiga Kogen resort. Check the Map before booking as it is not in Nagano despite the address. Diner and breakfast with Half board was very good and staff were friendly and helpful. Free shuttles were a bonus."
