Great hotel; probably the best in town. Great food and friendly staff. Room was dated but functional. Can’t expect more for the price we paid. Overall happy with our stay!

Great value for money. We stayed for 1 night while travelling NZ South Island. The room was clean but dated. No complaints given the price point. We also ate at the cafe/bar both for an evening meal and breakfast and loved the food, especially the beef roast dinner.

Disliked: Amenities
The check-in was absolutely welcoming, and the attached restaurant was very comfortable. Breakfast buffet was plentiful, and was included in my stay. We purchased cappuccinos and they were perfect! While clean , the room did not have standard amenities. No plug in the bathroom to plug my personal blow dryer in, no blow dryer in the room. Also no fridge, although it wasn’t listed as an amenity, I was expecting one. The walls were thin. Electrical outlets were available for my devices, but not near the bed. The location in Haast was extremely remote, but we did take a walk in Monro Beach . Parking was directly in front and very handy. We loved the staff and we did not complain, as the hotel was built in the 60 ‘s and I’m sure renovation would be extremely expensive. Just be aware and plan accordingly. The internet worked. I only found one TV station, but was mostly sports. It was antenna programming only.

1960s style motor lodge. Rooms are classic style although a little small by modern standards. Large bar restaurant is well patronised by locals and guests and serves pub style food.
