"My friend and I stopped here overnight on our way to Cornwall. The area is beautiful and it's a nice old estate/manor. The rooms were clean, but a little dated. It must've been a wedding party that stayed overnight, as we heard all of them in the courtyard and hallways at 7 am, so the walls are extremely thin. Fine for a one night stay."

"Basic double was fine. Everything we needed. Great location and plenty of breakfast options in town. Historic property so expect winding stairs and tight corners that comes with character. Only niggle was the heat of the room - but a fan was provided for the room if wanted. Great to have a parking option too in the middle of Exeter. Would stay again."

"Positives - location perfect for exploring Exeter and The Quay. Bathroom was nice and more recently refurbished. Carpark was straightforward but you pay. Bar man very helpful, went out of his way to find some peppermint tea, very grateful. Staff were friendly but no one explained about the £10 pp charge to swim… we were simply told we could use the leisure facilities while we stayed. It was cheap but a poor choice - no sleep, bedroom and communal areas tired. Bed had no mattress protector, one thin sheet straight on to an old lumpy mattress. This is surely not good practice, made me feel really icky, couldn’t settle and was meant to be a rare night to ourselves as a couple! Would really suggest investing in new beds, toppers or at the absolute least please use mattress protectors!! We booked on the basis of the proximity to Exeter and the pool, but we didn’t see the small print about £10 pp to use it. We didn’t bother for a £20 swim as the reviews of the pool were not great either! I would have rather paid more for the room to include the swim and mattress protector!! We didn’t have breakfast, everything seems to be an additional charge. Had a beautiful breakfast by the quay, 5 min walk, better value with a view. If you are not fussy where you sleep and want no frills, central location then it may suit, otherwise I would not recommend!"

"Pleasant upside down holiday home, with plenty of room, comfy furniture, fabulous views. Lots of peace & quiet. Local pub is a short walk - downhill there, uphill on the way home. Take a torch with you! The house does have emergency torches in most of the bedrooms, but not all working. No street lighting so star spotters are in luck. Hot tub a great addition (itâ€™s why I booked the house) but unless there are two of you, itâ€™s very difficult to get the lid off & on. The â€œwelcome basketâ€ of a cream tea was a very good choice of the owner. Owner, Sarah, was lovely in the communication we had, and I met her briefly on the morning of my departure.The information file containing maps and descriptions of local walks was very helpful. The house could do with some TLC - bannister loose, garden needs a good bit of pruning, but with the house being booked all the time getting those jobs done is tricky. If you want peace and quiet this is the spot for you."

"Left stranded outside the hotel after staff forgot to leave keys, after confirming directly with the hotel manager that we would be arriving late. We never were able to use our reservation and did not stay after paying in full. I called earlier in the day to confirm, and they gave me the lockbox location and code, but upon arrival by taxi (after midnight) there were no keys in the box, leaving us alone outside with no car. I’ve requested a refund from the hotel but they have not responded - I strongly recommend finding another hotel with a more competent operations staff."
