"This was a great place: spotless room, possibly the largest quadruple room we've ever stayed in. The bathroom was lovely, the room was modern and comfortable. The staff were very nice, the breakfast ample. Once upon a time, this house must have had a lovely view across the valley, it is becoming industrialised around it, but it's still quiet and peaceful. Do not check in before 5. They really aren't open. If the restaurant isn't open then there are some nice restaurants in Hausach. "

"This is a hotel you'll want to return to. The location is superb, right in the heart of the Black Forest. The rooms are very comfortable, with balconies and views of the mountains and forest. They have everything you need, except for the minibar. The breakfast is fantastic, with the option of ordering egg dishes. A wide selection of cheeses, sausages, vegetables, and fruits is available. Champagne is also available. The staff is ready to help with any questions. The spa complex consists of several saunas and a small pool. There's a panoramic sauna, but it's not very conveniently located. There are a lot of steps. Conclusion: a fantastic hotel for a relaxing holiday."

"The outside of the hotel look very quaint and German and was really looking forward to very traditional stay. One of our rooms was on the top floor and the room was huge, too big if all honest, the room had a bed, small sofa, small table but so so much empty space the room lacked any feel and was cold, there is such a thing as too big and too empty. The shower was nice. My friend was in a room on 2nd floor and was smaller and a little nicer but these room in the older building need renovating and bringing to life. The new part of the hotel across the road is very modern. The rooms lack any hot drinking facilities which I have never experienced in a hotel. The maids leave water but it’s always sparkling and I tried to explain I needed still but the next day was sparkling again!!! The restaurant food was nice. Breakfast was nice but maybe a little bland. The owner of the hotel was present at breakfast and she was very welcoming. I want to love the hotel but the rooms really let it down for me. "

"This was one of our favourite hotel stays ever! Beautiful wood panelled lodge set into the hills of the Black Forest. The room was spotless and the food at dinner and breakfast was faultless too. The service was friendly throughout. The view from the beer garden alone is worth coming for. 10/10 P.s. It’s a personal preference thing but I like to have two pillows. There was only one in the room so do ask at the desk if you prefer two"

"The property was likely the best VRBO rental we've ever had, and we have had a lot. Everything was immaculate! It was absolutely perfect, and the host family was fantastic and very helpful. I highly recommend this property and Gutach as a destination."

"Unfortunately our prepaid reservation from several months ago was not known the to staff working the reception. Our party had hiked to the this location (all day hike) and was turned away. The hotel did find another available accommodation with a different property in another town and drove our party there - however would have to pay all over again, and none of the amenities important to us. The staff was not friendly and also could not communicate with Expedia. They ended up ensuring some kind of accommodation but this cost our party a lot of time (including additional hiking the next morning), and unnecessary stress. No effort has been made to offer reimbursement. The Expedia team has been very empathetic and tried to help but that didn’t help that this put a dent into an otherwise fun weekend"
