My guesthouse in the Franconian Lake District consists of four modern and comfortably furnished vacation apartments and a large garden. The guesthouse is situated in a quiet location between Lake Altmühl and Lake Brombach, on the outskirts of Haundorf. You’ll be booking the entire guesthouse, which you’ll have all to yourself.<br><br>The two ground-floor apartments have been completely renovated and feature a large south-facing terrace/balcony with direct access to the garden. A large garden is available for all guests to relax, play, and barbecue. Private parking is available right in front of the house, and free Wi-Fi is, of course, provided. <br><br>Each apartment is lovingly and modernly furnished and features a fully equipped kitchen (with refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, stove, coffee maker, etc.), a bedroom with a comfortable double bed, a smart TV, and a bathroom. Two apartments are slightly larger and also feature a living room equipped with a sleeper sofa, which can therefore be used as a bedroom.<br><br>The apartments vary in size and number of rooms and can accommodate up to 6 people. For larger groups and families (up to 18 people), we recommend booking the entire house with all four apartments.<br><br>SURROUNDINGS:<br>The Franconian Lake District south of Nuremberg is the perfect place for relaxing, hiking, and biking. In the summer, numerous beaches along the seven lakes are perfect for sunbathing. Active vacationers greatly appreciate the well-developed and clearly marked biking and hiking trails. All lakes are surrounded by a bike and hiking trail and are best explored by bike. For water sports enthusiasts, sailing, surfing, kitesurfing, and/or wakeboarding are popular activities. <br><br>The town of Haundorf is a state-recognized resort located in the heart of the Franconian Lake District. Thanks to its central location right next to the Mönchswald, the town is an ideal starting point for bike tours, hiking trips, and days at the beach. The Altmühlsee is only 6 km away, and you can reach the large Brombachsee in about 20 minutes (15 km away). The Haundorfer Weiher ponds are located nearby, inviting visitors to take walks and, in the summer, offering a great spot to cool off (swimming and barbecuing are permitted). <br><br>Gunzenhausen is the nearest town (about 8 km away) with a very beautiful downtown area and numerous shopping options and restaurants. Every Thursday, the weekly market—which is very popular with both locals and tourists—takes place here, featuring regional products. <br><br>FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN:<br>There’s plenty to do for children in the region as well. A large adventure playground at the Seezentrum Wald on Lake Altmühl is open year-round. Pirate boat tours featuring an exciting treasure hunt are held regularly on the MS Altmühlsee, and for older kids, there’s the high ropes course at Brombachsee, which includes a spectacular zip-line ride across Igelsbachsee. For families with children, the Nuremberg Zoo and/or the Playmobil FunPark are excellent choices for a day trip, with a travel time of less than an hour. <br><br>SWIMMING AND SAUNAS:<br>In addition to the numerous swimming beaches in the Lake District, Gunzenhausen also features a large recreational pool with a spacious swimming and leisure pool, a sunbathing lawn, slides, and a diving tower. In case of bad weather or during the winter, visitors can enjoy the Juramare recreational pool in Gunzenhausen. This facility also features the diverse and award-winning “Sauna Village” with a spacious sauna garden and an extensive range of wellness offerings. Those seeking relaxation also love the Altmühltherme in Treuchtlingen. Here, the sauna area, thermal baths, and activity pool are all under one roof—and just 35 km away.<br><br>DAY TRIPS:<br>Is FOCUS right, and does Dinkelsbühl really have the most beautiful old town in Germany?
