"Comfy hotel in a great spot. Garden View room was cozy but had everything we needed and a nice patio to sit out and listen to the frogs. Short walk to beach, coffee, food, and more. Ability to borrow beach towels and umbrellas was great. Parking was close to the room and easy. Coffee cart out front was a great option in the morning! Open air lobby was nice to people watch and relax."

"I've been staying at the Royal Kona since my first trip in 1978; its clean but needs renovation. Breakfast was wonderful! Beautiful view!"
Hilo Reeds Bay Hotel

"The hotel building is a little dated, but we could see that they are doing their best to maintain it well. Even without air conditioning, the fans worked surprisingly well and we were quite comfortable. Our room was spacious, and the location was wonderful—just steps from the beautiful seashore and surrounded by gorgeous tropical gardens. We especially enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty of the property. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing stay."

"Ambiance was very romantic with live local music playing during the day and at night. Lots of beaches and areas to explore and enjoy the beauty of the landscaping. Plenty of activities and different places to eat. But hands down, the employees are what put this place over the top. Very genuine! And they took excellent care of us which made it a very special experience. Love this place."

"Check-in was a little tricky because a huge tour bus got off right in front of us so that took probably 45 minutes. But the property was nice and we could see the luau from our room."
