"We arrived at the hotel & a warm welcome. Everyone was friendly & accommodating. We were especially happy with there knowledge of gluten free foods. The food was in a word Fantastic & plenty choices! A lovely place to stay with a walkin shower & nice seated area to enjoy the sun. "Appleby Castle is a special destination, steeped in history that you can experience first hand. Staff care deeply about the castle and we thoroughly enjoyed the piano playing during the meal and the history talk after. Having read some of the other reviews, we can’t say we experienced any of the negatives and thought Peter, Sally (and chef!) did a great job it being just them running the castle."

"The staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. The food was very good. The hotel is very comfortable, well furnished and very quiet being a little remote. No outside noise and very little noise inside the hotel even with coach parties staying over. Looking forward to my next visit."

"We stayed for 2 nights, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel doesn't have a car park but the young lady on reception told us what to do, she let us leave our bags in reception and gave us directions to the local cricket club just around the corner ( 2 min walk) there is an honesty box at the cricket club for the parking fee. The breakfast was lovely, there is a wide range of choices from hot or cold. We would strongly recommend staying at this hotel and we will definitely be staying there again ourselves."

"We would not have been able to access the property if it weren’t for the help of other guests. The owners failed to tell us the entrance code. In addition there was no prior warning that the en suite was outside our room (room 6)."
