"If you want quiet and relaxing this is for you, seclusion and privacy. Great hosts. Don’t go if you’re looking for a resort experience. This is for getting away and enjoying each other with the outside locked away for a few days. "
1 MILE FROM SOME OF THE BEST FISHING IN THE BAHAMAS! BEACHFRONT -SLEEPS 8
8/10 Good
"The property is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. However, the listing was a bit misleading—only one bedroom and the bunkhouse were accessible, not the three bedrooms and baths advertised. There was no access to a washer/dryer, and the upstairs shower had very low water pressure. The upstairs bedroom and bathroom also lacked window coverings, which made privacy an issue. That said, the host was responsive and assured us these concerns would be addressed with the property manager."
"My mom and I absolutely loved our recent stay at Banana Winds on Cat Island! The location was stunning—right by the ocean—and the home was incredibly comfortable, well-equipped, and relaxing. It was hard to leave the house because it was so peaceful and beautiful. The locals were absolutely lovely, and the caretaker, Harrison, truly went above and beyond. My mom has alpha-gal syndrome, and this was her first time traveling with it. Harrison not only prepared two delicious, completely safe meals for her, but he also used fresh fruits and vegetables straight from his own garden—which made everything even more special. His thoughtfulness took so much stress out of the trip. He also gave us several personal recommendations for amazing beaches and places to explore—we discovered some real hidden gems thanks to him.We were also able to safely eat at a few restaurants, including Hidden Treasures and Greenwood, both of which were incredibly accommodating and caring about her allergies.I usually don’t return to the same place twice—I want to see as much of the world as I can—but this is one place I know I’ll be back to. I can’t wait to bring friends and family here and make it a regular part of my life. We truly can’t recommend it enough for its beauty, comfort, and the incredible kindness we experienced."
"One of the most beautiful places ever. Bring long sleeves and pants if you are someone who is irritates by sand fly bites-- regular deet wont cut it! Meal there was lovely-- perfect spot!!"
Sandcastle House Oceanfront Paradise in Fernandez Bay
10/10 Excellent
"If you are looking for a beautiful, serene getaway this is it!
The property is exactly as advertised. Comfortable beds, bright big bathroom, full kitchen for all your cooking / bbq needs, plus Marianna had many extras waiting for us on arrival such as coffee/tea, snacks, bottles of water and cold bubbly!
Marianna (host) was great with all communication and answered any questions that we had. She arranged a contact to pick us up for the airport (close by), help us grab some groceries and check in with us throughout our stay. Big shout out to Donna ! A bright welcoming personality that kept us smiling all week long :) And to her puppy Babu!
The beach is stunning, lounge chairs, beach towels and floaties all available. Kayaked into the mangroves and had a turtle escort us out :) Sunsets did not disappoint.
We did pop next door to the Fernandez Bay Resort for a lunch and a dinner (which was excellent) and to the Tiki Bar for the odd refreshment. Also recommend renting a car for a day or two and explore the island. So many beautiful beaches to explore... just watch for potholes, lol.
If you're looking for a very laid back, peaceful beach vacation where you are looking just to relax with no fuss, this is it. If the stars align we will be back. Note: if the bugs/mosquito's like you make sure you bring some bug spray for early morning and evenings."
