Stephanie is a gem. She always provides an incredible environment for me to come visit. Peaceful and relaxing here. The house is a darling cottage and has everything I need. The beds are so comfortable, nice bedding and pillows! The water is beautiful and calming. Sitting on the deck anytime of day is a joy, nice shade even when’s it’s hot. The pool and the cover over it are perfect way to spend an afternoon after my long walk on a beach that I have all to myself! The water is the most beautiful color, the sunrises and sunsets are the most spectacular that you will ever see. Lots of time to be in peace, calm and solitude. 100 stars!

Perfectly peaceful oceanfront escape! We had an incredible stay at this oceanfront home on Cat Island. It was wonderfully remote, but the home had everything we needed included great internet. The private, gated pool was a huge plus that made us feel like we had our private paradise. The kitchen was fully equipped, which made cooking so easy. We highly recommend ordering dinner from the care-taker for the first night. It was delicious and a warm welcome our first night there. We lived exploring the island's local charming restaurants and one of our favorites was just a 5 minute walk away. Fresh seafood was plentiful and snorkeling was right on front of the house. The crystal clear water was unforgettable. It was an unforgettable trip and we will definitely be back. This house is perfect for anyone looking for a well-appointed house and a quiet peaceful get away.

Anniversary getaway

The property is very secluded and that's not a bad thing. We only saw 2 other people the first few days and the day before we left a family arrived at the property next to us. Other than those we hardly saw anyone else while on the beach, snorkeling or in the pool. It is so beautiful that we hardly wanted to explore the rest of the Island but did go into town ( cultural village) for for a few visits and explored some of the beaten path trails that led to some extraordinary beaches,and it seemed like we were the only ones enjoying the beaches.The house a charm and laid back feeling

Secluded

Property was typical of a Bahamas out island VRBO. Very secluded, well used but clean, well equipped kitchen, and ice cold A.C. Pretty good snorkeling out front with a nice sandy beach 100 feet to the east. There is a slight current but fortunately it pulls you in not out. Internet was fast and reliable but I would recommend using WHATSAPP for phone calls. Be sure to get plenty of bottled water for cooking, drinking, and brushing teeth as a quick peek in the cistern will confirm the water is not drinkable. Also I would recommend New Bight Service Station (242-342-3014) for rental car. Overall we loved it. I would definitely go back.

Beautiful secluded gem!

This was amazing! Cat Island offered privacy, beauty, and a true island experience. It is very natural and we saw so much wildlife and enjoyed exploring the area. The island contact and caretaker, Harrison, made our trip extra special! He showed my kids how to pick and prepare coconuts, brought us to his beautiful farm and gifted us some conch shells! When you bring them back to the states, they must go in your checked luggage otherwise they will confiscate them at customs. The locals were very kind and there is a feeling of safety there. The gate house was very clean and had an abundance of towels and many areas to soak in the sun and listen to the ocean. We appreciate it the pool a lot, and there are also beaches nearby that were incredible and we felt like we had the island all to ourselves. We enjoyed snorkeling on the property and they also had kayaks with a pond nearby. Da Pink Chicken is a little island bar that’s open from about 2 to 6 on the weekends and is within walking distance. This place was a real find and we will be back!! If you want to get away from it all, this is the place

Cute house in gorgeous location

This is a cute house near the water and between two beaches. It had a smaller living space than we expected, and two cute bedrooms ( queen beds) and a small side room for a child. Most of the amenities are for 4 people ( plates/ cups etc). It is a lovely, quiet location ( a car is mandatory!).The pool area is nice, but we ended up not using it as the ocean was in front of the door.The beds are very comfortable queen beds. There is not a lot of space in the bedrooms, but that was not an issue as we were outside most of the time.There is good hot water and good WiFi.This is a cute , rustic hideaway with a beautiful view.Any issues we had were promptly dealt with by the wonderful, kind Harrison and ( if needed) by the owner.

Trip to Cat Island

This property is beyond fantastic! Everything is as described, but better! The beds were very comfortable and the water was nice and hot. We loved being at the end of the lane and in such a private area. Listening to the ocean every morning was heaven. The pool was such a fun extra! We fell in love with the people of the island and we have never met such kinder people! Everyone is so responsive! Thank you for everything!

We love staying here!!

This was our second time at Gate house. It was a shorter trip and we were reluctant to leave. I appreciated the pool and was in it every afternoon. We also love the beach to the South of the house and all the friendly people around to help. It was great seeing Harrison again and of course we really enjoyed seeing Captain Reynold and our fishing trips with him. Cat Island is truly beautiful and we can’t wait to come back!

Paradise

When I tell you that this is paradise. Believe me! There is not one view that will disappoint. The house was perfect and everything we needed was provided. Harrison the caretaker is a gem and was so attentive to our needs and questions. The owner,Stephanie sent very detailed instructions and information before we left making our visit stress free.We flew to Ft.Lauderdale and took Markers Air to Cat Island. We rented our car from Gilbert’s and shopped at their market almost everyday. We drove from the south end to the north end and visited many places in between. It is a magical place and we have plans to return next year. Please don’t pass up on this place because of extra travel to get there. It is worth it! If I could give it 100 stars, I would.

A Peaceful Paradise at the Gate House, Cat Island

Our stay at the Gate House on Cat Island was nothing short of exceptional. We loved the location: this beautiful property offered the perfect blend of tranquility and comfort. Having access to a beautiful, sandy beach, just a few steps away, was an awesome bonus! Stephanie was a wonderful, responsive host and her caretaker, Harrison, was a highlight of our stay. His outstanding hospitality, attentiveness, and dedication to ensuring our comfort significantly enhanced our experience. While there we asked Harrison to prepare a delicious dinner of conch, grouper, peas’n'rice, macaroni and cheese, and coleslaw. The meal was outstanding and we highly recommend you consider having him prepare a meal during your stay. The house was well-equipped and maintained, featuring all the necessary amenities for a relaxing stay, including a fully functional kitchen, comfortable bedding, and air conditioning. The beauty of Cat Island complemented our stay at the Gate House. The island's breathtaking landscapes and the calming ocean views were a constant source of delight. very relaxing

The stay was great...the people on the island were incredible. Harrison was so kind, helpful and accommodating and just all around enjoyable to be around and talk with. We decided that he makes the absolute BEST conch fritters around (and we tried a lot of them while we were there!) If you are looking for complete relaxation and quietness, this is your place. We explored the whole island and the beaches were amazing. Then it was so nice to come back to a refreshing pool. Swimming in front of the property is not really an option but just to the left or right the beach is really nice. We really enjoyed ourselves and were able to unwind.

15th Birthday Celebration

Mr. King was excellent. He made everything about the house and the island fantastic. Once we checked in, water and fruits were in the refrigerator, this made the two teenagers very happy! We would definitely stay here again.

Best Island Visit Ever

This was the most amazing trip we’ve ever had! The island is a magical place with the people being the absolute best part of it all, But the beauty of the beaches and scenery a very close 2nd. We had 5.5 days and it was not nearly enough time, we could have easily stayed for 2 weeks with plenty to explore. This is the perfect place if you need to slow way, way down and rediscover yourself. This island seemed like a magical place with lots to explore and not a ton of tourists. The ones you do meet are all just as in love with the peacefulness and connected feeling you get while there. We are already planning a trip back, I never wanted to leave. Harrison (property manager) was gracious and wonderfully kind and helpful. Everyone we met and everywhere we visited treated us like friends. Never been anywhere like it and we loved the Gate house!

I think Cat Island is our favorite Bahamian island now,….

We’ve been to 9 different Bahamian islands. Each has their own personalities. But we found Cat Island to be full of very kind people and lots of insanely beautiful beaches!! We only explored the island south of the New Bight airport, so there’s lots more to explore. To my husband’s delight we heard in Nassau that “there’s lots of good fishing on Cat Island” which was music to my husband’s ears! True enough, we met Captain Reynold on the first night and booked ourselves on a fishing trip. It was very successful!!! And we went on another fishing trip too! Between fishing, we explored Devils Point, Greenwood beach and kayaked “the flats” and sandbar right behind our house by Da Pink Chicken. Each beach is very beautiful—try to get there at low tide. There’s also a beautiful beach just 200 yards away from our place that I suntanned on. Harrison, the caretaker is awesome and has lots of information & a very kind man! Now, on to the Gate House: it has everything you need! Comfy beds, AC, nice showers, a fully stocked kitchen, a grill, blender, a large porch, beautiful palms AND A POOL!!! (My favorite part!). We came in mid-April and even though it is not heated, the water was perfect temp, not too cool! There’s a pool vacuum you can plug in if it needs cleaning (sometimes baby crabs fall in overnight). An overall GREAT EXPERIENCE & we’ll be back!

Peace and relaxation

We had a tremendous time, we were a little concerned just how remote and primitive the island was. But soon relaxed and enjoyed the slow down lifestyle. Beaches almost perfect and no one on the beaches besides us. The property was quiet, ocean side great to lay out day or night. We didn’t get in water there mostly because there were so many incredible beaches 10-20 minutes away. We would explore, enjoy beach and lunch and then return in early afternoon to enjoy the pool. Harrison was terrific, Greenwood with Pauline and Antione made it so special. Great island, great property and hone to really unwind and enjoy! Don’t think twice… do it!

Annual escape

When I go on vacation, I want seclusion, privacy, the beach, and a view. The Gate house gave me what I wanted. The owners were quick with responses before and during my stay. The caretaker Harry, was always available when needed, and knew when to give privacy. He also cooked for us a few times! It was awesome! The kitchen has your basic needs, and the beds are comfy. That's all I need! It is a very cute beach house with no frills, and luxuries, except the pool, and beach. Plenty of outdoor space, star gazing was exceptional, as was the snorkeling! Oh...they do have a TV, never even used it, and wifi. Also, AC throughout the house. I for one....will be back! Loved every minute here! Janice

The gate house

The care taker Harrison made this trip amazing! He was so helpful and kind! Harrison went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and made sure we had everything we needed! Even more than that he made us feel like family! The house was nice and private. The people on this island were so amazing! Harrison had warned us to bring bug spray and that was very good advice as there were lots of bugs when out exploring the beach! Amazing sunrises at the house! Can’t wait to visit cat island again! Best trip we have taken so far! If u are looking to party this might not be the island for you. If you are looking for tranquility and a setting out of a fairy tale where every person you meet would be willing to help you with anything, then you should consider trip to cat island. Fell in love with this island and the people that call cat island their home!
