High efficiency gas hot water heater. Always plenty of hot water.

We offer weekly and monthly discounts. Taxes are waived for stay of 90+ consecutive days.

The Cardinal Cottage is a comfortable, roomy, 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage located in a small, upscale established development. Our guest cottage is just 10 minutes from downtown Hendersonville and the Asheville Airport. The cottage is located 1/4 mile from a main two lane highway. Our paved dead end private road hosts only 9 homes. The cottage is situated on our 10 acre property and through dense woods in a private setting.
The Cardinal is nestled in a forest of mature pines and oaks. The land surrounding the Cardinal is level and there are only three steps from the driveway into the cottage. The cottage is surrounded by large wooded tracts, creating a very quiet relaxing and private setting. The location is perfect for all your sightseeing adventures or relaxing on the porch. The cottage is close to Hendersonville and Mills River but a retreat all its own.

The Cardinal is nicely decorated and has a fully equipped and stocked kitchen. A large screened-in porch is accessed through double French doors off the living room. Enjoy relaxing on the porch while white squirrels scamper and birds land on the feeders. An occasional flock of turkeys or a deer might wander by. The porch boasts an old-fashioned wooden swing, 4- person dining table and 2 comfortable reading chairs.The living room is spacious with comfortable furniture and a game table for cards or computer work. There are 2 Smart HD tvs. The one in the living room is 4K with a DVR. The other Smart TV is in the twin bedroom. One bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has two twin beds. The twins can be converted to a king for 3 weeks stays or longer. Both have large dressers and double-deep closet space. The bathroom offers a comfort height commode, 2 grab bars and a hand -held shower wand.

A high efficiency central air and heating system keeps you comfortable Year round. A washer- dryer is located in the garage which is also heated and air conditioned.
An attractive stone lined paved road leads you through the woods to the cottage. The yard is sunny and flat for you to enjoy a game of bocce, crochet or throwing a frisbee. A large gas grill and grilling utensils are available for cookouts.
Come relax and enjoy all the CC and the area has to offer.

Wonderful Get Away

Clean and cozy, surrounded by nature but close to all the great shops and restaurants in the area. Everything is there that you need for a comfortable stay, from cooking to sleeping. Hosts took care of us and made the stay special, it felt like we were hosted by family.

Three week stay

My wife and I stayed at the Cardinal Cottage last September for four nights so when we decided to spend three weeks in the Hendersonville area this summer, we had Cardinal Cottage at the top of the list. We love the large screen porch, the warmth of the house with the real pine paneling, the deer which we saw about every other day and the quiet location. The Cardinal Cottage will be at the top of our list next summer if we decide to return to the Hendersonville/Asheville area.

Perfect weekend getaway

I can’t even put into words how perfect this little cc cottage was, had everything we needed, very cozy and felt like you were far away from the hustle and bustle yet we were close to be able to shop. Our Host Lonnie was so kind and very helpful letting us know if we needed anything. I know when we go back to Hendersonville if this place is available this will be where we’re staying.

This was our third time staying at this lovely, cozy cottage. We enjoyed it immensely once again. The hosts are so very kind and always quick to answer any questions. The cottage is clean and location is great - tucked away just a few miles from downtown Hendersonville. We’ll be back!

Great stay, watching birds were great for there were so many that was not in out part of the world. Saw Pilates Woodpecker. Best part of stay was enjoying the screened in porch. Great location for traveling part of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Great Location in the Woods

The cottage is well located to visit the area attractions and only about 5 miles from downtown Hendersonville. The cottage is clean , private and very well equipped . The owners are available and helpful in answering all your questions. So many birds came to the feeders. We saw at least 3 white squirrels and 3 deer grazing in an open area. We were happy we booked the cottage. Will definitely return.

Charming, secluded yet close to everything!

Nestled in the heart of apple country this cottage is an oasis of serenity. My husband and I were hoping for a vacation property with a sense of privacy, yet close to all this lovely area has to offer, and we did indeed find it! The cottage itself is most comfortable with everything needed at your fingertips. I could have spent the entire time on the porch surrounded by the trees watching the white squirrels and the birds at the feeder. Lonnie and David are excellent hosts with several helpful suggestions for food, activities, and such if needed. Bonnie

Perfect little cottage!

After many trips to the mountains, we've come to love the Hendersonville/Mills River area. We chose this property because of its proximity to both. Lonnie greeted us when we arrived and gave us a thorough tour. She may be the kindest person you'll ever meet. The kitchen is fully stocked, the beds are very comfortable, and that porch...oh my! We watched birds at breakfast and lunch on the porch and finished our nights there relaxing in the cool mountain air. We visit the mountains regularly and I would absolutely rent this property again. It's secluded and cozy...a perfect little cottage.

Great little treasure hidden in the woods

This cottage was perfect for our purposes. We just needed a comfortable place to stay that had a full kitchen as both my husband and I have special diets to adhere to. We arrthe ived to find the owner, Lonnie, waiting for us. She took us on a tour of the house and showed us the ins and outs of the place and warned us about the bear which never surfaced while we were there.....thank goodness. It was clean/spotless. I just wish that the weather was nicer so that we could have spent more time on the porch swing. It was so peaceful out there. I loved sitting at the kitchen table watching the birds at her bird feeder. I have never seen that many birds show up for food at one time in all of my life. I especially enjoyed the typography map on her wall as it allowed us to see the elevations that we visited throughout the week. At one point, I thought that we had visited heaven because we were so high up. Once we got back to the cottage and I looked at the map, I was amazed that what I thought was very high was one of the shortest mountains on the map...it gave real perspective to the height of these majesties! We had a pleasant stay and the upkeep expected from us was minimal...turning on the dish washer and taking out the garbage before leaving. Simple and to the point. I would return here if we are ever back in the area. It is a lovely cottage for adults...and quite toasty in the winter...no drafts here.

Mountain trip

We had a fabulous weekend and the hosts are extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the area! Their home is so cozy and private and we enjoyed being on the porch bird watching! We will definitely be back!

Wonderful stay again!

We just returned from our 4th stay at the Cardinal Cottage. Mrs. Lonnie and Mr. David are fantastic hosts. They make us feel very welcome and at home. This cottage is in a great location - a short, easy drive to downtown Hendersonville and is very private. The screen porch provides a great place to watch all the birds that come to enjoy the feeders. We look forward to our next visit.

NEED MORE OF THIS

I do not believe I can put into words the time we have had at Cardinal Cottage. Everything was perfect! We love birds and had no idea we would spend a week in a bird sanctuary, as we call it, just sitting on the porch. We figured there wasn’t 30 seconds that went by without a bird in the birdfeeder. We learned many different types of birds and their songs. We hated leaving Rufus-He was a Rufus sided Towee. There was everything that we needed to enjoy our stay ~ Lonnie was the perfect host and made sure that our stay was complete-lovely people! ~ We cooked a few meals and had everything we needed ~ Lonnie even put in the refrigerator, some local fresh peaches, and green peas from the garden ~ Everything was very clean. My white socks didn’t even get dirty. ~ The landscaping, bushes, flowers and everything around us was so beautiful ~ they suggested places to eat and places to visit Which helped immensely! We enjoyed the area tremendously! We hope to be back soon!

We loved our stay at the Cardinal Cottage

Our stay at the Cardinal Cottage was very enjoyable and relaxing; just what we were looking for when we decided to visit from Florida for a short week. Lonnie was very responsive before and during our stay. She provided a detailed introduction to the house and property and offered us recommendations to local attractions. We are already talking about returning next year to the Hendersonville area and if we do, we will stay at the Cardinal Cottage.

Charming and peaceful

We had a lovely, peaceful stay at Cardinal Cottage. Lonnie met us when we arrived and gave us a thorough intro to the house and advice for the area. The cottage is charming, clean, and super comfortable. We felt at home instantly. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. I learned some new birds - watching them at the feeders and in the trees.
