Tarset Tor Bothy 2 is an eco-friendly glamping retreat set beneath the rugged outcrop of Tarset Tor in the heart of Northumberland National Park. Sleeping up to eight guests, it’s perfect for families, friends, or groups seeking both adventure and comfort in this remarkable landscape. Built from sustainably sourced cedar and powered by renewable energy, the Bothy blends contemporary living with eco-conscious design.
The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area provides a welcoming hub to relax together, complete with a cosy biomass stove and large windows that frame sweeping views across the Northumbrian hills. A private veranda extends the living space outdoors, making the most of the dramatic setting. Upstairs, the two mezzanine bedrooms each feature two bunk beds sleeping four in each room, with individual lights and privacy curtains for every bunk, creating a glamping-style experience that feels both fun and comfortable. Both bedrooms have their own en-suite shower room, and there’s an additional toilet on the ground floor. From Bothy 2, guests can step straight into the wilderness.
Walking and cycling routes start from the door, leading through Tarset Valley and into nearby Kielder Forest, where you may spot red squirrels, deer, wild goats, or ospreys. As part of Europe’s largest Dark Sky Park, nights bring unforgettable stargazing. For those who want more adventure, the team can help arrange fishing, horse riding, quad biking, survival courses, and golf tours. Facilities on site include a barbecue and fire pit, woodland bar, sauna, drying room, bird hide, bike wash and cycle store, pool table, and a 5-a-side football pitch.
