"huge twin room which remained quite cool during the recent heatwave. comfy bed with quality bedding. bathroom with huge tub and lots of hot water. generally quiet despite being at front of hotel on station road. comprehensive breakfast in vintage surroundings. step free access via back door at end of station entry platform beyond Centurion Bar."

"Most of the staff were lovely. Arrived to a cracked bathroom sink. Air con failed the first night in very high temperatures. Reported it the next morning and we were moved. Breakfast good but understaffed and most things were empty at peak time so you had to wait for the poor staff to keep up."

"The hotel was beautifully situated right across from the railway station. The area isn't great with beggars, homeless and quite a lot of noise well into the early hours. Staff were great , really friendly. Room was very clean apart from a hair in the bath. No air conditioning which was a problem as temps hit 25 degrees the first night. Mini bar and kettle. Limited TV channel choice and no way to access for the fire stick. Bath/shower combination but all good. Didn't take meals at the hotel as there is a lot around about. Wasn't told about the WiFi but it is available."

"Always love our overnight stays at Lumley. Love the more quirky rooms in particular. Breakfast is always gorgeous, and well organised. Staff are all lovely, approachable, friendly, cheerful. The only two things I might say is that the Library Bar doesn't have a whole lot of choice for bigger plate meals. Burgers, fish and chips, pie and ravioli. Maybe 2 or 3 other choices? Would benefit someone like me with OA cervical spine, to have a choice of 2 pillow types, firm and the usual hotel soft. I find it very difficult to stay asleep on the very soft, hence being awake a lot of last night, due to very soft pillows causing more pain. Just a choice of 2 would be better, firm, and soft. Other than that, another gorgeous stay. Can't wait to come back."

"Have stayed at vermont a few times now & we were shocked to find that you have to pay £20 now to use the car park when it was previously free! Had I known this I would have gone elsewhere . Room was really noisy as near railway line & birds squawking all night. We were left earplugs so obviously hotel was aware of this so as hotel seemed well under occupied why put us in that room! Bathroom was shabby, carpet not hoovered..... we won't be back"

"Basic room, bathroom and bedsheets were clean but bedroom was very dusty so clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly for a while. Can hear footsteps and water running from upstairs rooms over night, I woke up 3 times over night due to footsteps in room above and I am a deep sleeper usually, but I guess that’s to be expected in an old building. Overall okay stay for the price paid, staff were nice and good location to metros/ bars!"

"We had such a lovely stay at Langley Castle Hotel. The staff were genuinely warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived and made the whole experience feel really special. We stayed in the Percy Room, which was full of charm and character while still being very comfortable. Staying in an actual castle was such a unique experience. We also loved walking the nearby trails and grounds — it was peaceful and beautiful, especially in the evening. Dinner at the hotel was excellent, with great food and a really nice atmosphere, and breakfast the next morning was just as enjoyable. Overall, it was a memorable stay and somewhere we’d happily return to"
