Comfortable Palmetto Dunes Home with Private Pool and Screened in Porch

This Hilton Head vacation home offers a comfortable and easygoing setting for your island getaway. The screened-in porch with a vaulted ceiling is a relaxing spot to unwind, with casual seating overlooking the private backyard pool.

Inside, the layout is open and functional. The kitchen features counter seating for six, along with a dining table that seats eight, plus a formal dining room for additional gathering space, making it easy for everyone to come together for meals.

Down the main-level hallway, there are two guest bedrooms, each with a private en-suite bathroom, one furnished with a king bed and the other with two twin beds, followed by the primary bedroom, which offers private access to the pool area. The primary bath offers a soaking tub and a separate walk-in shower. Upstairs, there is an additional bedroom with two twin beds, a sleeper sofa, and its own en-suite bathroom. A table with four chairs upstairs provides a great space for games, cards, or just hanging out.

The backyard includes a private pool and gas grill, perfect for laid-back afternoons at home. Beach access is convenient by bike, just a quick ride away, or by calling the seasonal, on-call Palmetto Dunes Buggy, a complimentary shuttle service that makes getting to and from the beach simple. Bikes are available to rent at Hilton Head Outfitters, conveniently located within Palmetto Dunes.

This home is a great fit for families or groups of friends looking for a relaxed Hilton Head stay with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy time together.

The pool can be heated (June 1st - October 1st) for an additional fee.

Golf Trip

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Amazing trip! Home is the perfect size for 8 guests and we had a wonderful time. The only complaint is that the "house amenities" were basically non existent. 2 rolls of paper towels for 3 night stay, 2 trash bags, nothing for cooking other than the hardware, no oil, salt pepper, COFFEE, nothing. Luckily we had one group at the store and one at the house communicating, but it was a little disappointing. We left what was unused so hopefully the next group lucks out!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I recently stayed at 12 Cartgate Drive in the Palmetto Dunes resort from July 18th to July 21st with my family. The house layout was perfect for us, with each of the four bedrooms having its own bathroom, the open floor plan and the private pool, providing ample privacy and convenience.However, there were a few issues that marred our experience. Firstly, we found several utensils that had not been cleaned properly and still had food stuck on them, which was quite off-putting.The most significant problem occurred on the night of July 20th during a rainstorm. The skylight in the family room, where the TV is located, began leaking severely. We had to use bucket and numerous towels to contain the water. The situation was so bad that we had to move to the front half of the room to avoid the splashing water. This was a major inconvenience and I sincerely hope the management addresses this issue promptly before the house is rented out again.Additionally, we rented two sets of two chairs and one umbrella from the outfitters company on the resort property. Unfortunately, these items were so filthy that my adult children refused to use them. This level of cleanliness is unacceptable and should be rectified to ensure a pleasant experience for future guests.Despite these issues, the house has great potential. I recommend addressing the cleanliness of the utensils, fixing the skylight leak, and ensuring the rented beach equipment is clean for future guests.Regards,Alexis Grove

Reviewer Comments: first thing that wanted to do when i arrived was get in the pool with my kids but was not possible since everything was excessive dirty. entry door from the garage to the inside was filled with spiders and webs was excessive. Every time you open that door spiders falls on you. the upstairs room the drawers was coming apart had to leave the clothes in the suit case. Mold around the fridge where you get ice/water. rusted soap trays. tile flooring loose where the kitchen island and the master bathroom. Worse was the air vents and filter. those were excessively dirty causing everyone to sneeze a lot in there. I believe Palmetto Dunes should give a inspection of the house before check in day. I stayed multiple times at Palmetto Dunes and I love staying there but this time was the first time i encounter all that. The only bad experience was the house maintenance but the rest was excellent.

Large and Roomy with Good Location

Family getaway

Palmetto Dunes is one of our most favor vacation spots to visit. It has everything you need for a great vacation, golf, beach, biking riding and it is very close to Shelter Cove.

Spacious family vacation home short walk from beach

Spacious. Nice backyard pool. Approximately 10 minute walk to beach. We brought a fold up wagon which was very useful in getting our gear (chairs, cooler, towels, rafts, spikeball) to the beach. Location allowed us consistent safe distancing during covid pandemic and was an excellent family vacation option during covid pandemic.

Disappointed in Property

Palmetto Dunes was a very nice resort, the rental property however was in need of some TLC. During a rain storm the skylight in the living room leaked, the dishwasher is in desperate need of an upgrade, and the house in general needs touched up and upgraded. There was hair in one of the showers when we got there, as if the shower was not even cleaned. Not happy at all with the state of repair of the property.

Tropical Storm Debby

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Tropical Storm Debby hit the area the day my family was scheduled to arrive at this location. I am have no idea how the property looks or is maintained as we did not put ourselves in the path of a tropical storm. The rental agency would not reschedule the reservation (even though all amenities were closed and there was a voluntary evacuation of the area in place). I was told by the reservation agent that they made it into work and the golf course would open the following day (it did not). Unbelievable that this group would be so unaware of the situation and prefer to have my family actually drive into a tropical storm rather than reschedule the reservation. So my family paid them $600 per night for nothing in order to avoid a tropical storm. The owner of this property should consider new representation that has some common sense.

We were 8 guys on a golf trip 4 in this house and 4 in a different property. The furniture and appliance's are old and dated. I think the biggest TV was 40in. The carpet in the bedrooms felt dirty and worn out. But the icing on the cake was the feces that came out of the jetted tub in the main bathroom while it was in use. Not somewhere I would stay ever again.

The house was a little worn but everything worked which was most important. The only issue we had was every day we needed to call and have the door code changed as it locked us out daily. They were nice about updating it but it was something that could have been avoided.

Additional passes at $30. We stay with 4 other couples with 4 cars. We were all there for a tennis tournament and had our own cars. We requested addition day passes for friends visiting and we’re told no more passes could be issued. We have been to HH a number of times for tournaments and would not stay at Palmetto Dunes for this reason along. House was fine, needs updates and could of been cleaner.

HHI June 2021 Stay

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location worked well with our stay. The pool was cleaned during our stay which was very appreciated. Overall it could have been cleaner (floors, bathroom, kitchen counters). The dishwasher did not clean well and the racks were very rusty and dated. The outside furniture cushions were very dirty and no one sat on them. In the photo there appears to be some white chairs but they were not there. The loft was lovely and the bedrooms were very nice. The screened in porch was a delight to sit out at night. My advice for the owners is to replace some of the outdated appliances, replace the kitchen counters and paint the cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchen.

Review of 12 Cartgate Palmetto Dunes Resort

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The pictures were not at all what the house looked like. The pool area is very small and was not clean at all when we arrived. So Many issues:1. Pool was not cleaned until Monday. The pool guy said it hadn't been cleaned in awhile, he had to shock it that day.2. Pool area only gets a few hours of sun and because of all the trees it is never clean.3. Friday (last day) they came by in the morning to blow the deck area and surrounding pool area then a guy came by Friday early afternoon and blow all of the roof debris onto the deck and into the pool. It was ridiculous. Pool was unusable. 3. House itself was dirty when we arrived and again pictures do not show the actual condition of the house. The house needs a facelift badly.4. It definitely needs a 1/2 bath as well.5. Would have been nice to be able to use the extra fridge but owner had it padlocked. Only good aspect of the house was the screened in porch. BTW the pictures show a hot tub in the screened in porch (360 degree view) but there isn't one there.
