Where to stay in Hiratsuka

Every year in summer, a Star Festival is held called Tanabata. Two star deities, Orihime and Hikoboshi, can meet each other in the night sky. Theirs is a tragic love story, but children celebrate them by writing wishes on streamers to fly to the heavens. This festival is a major event in Sendai, but it's smaller cousin in Hiratsuka is also impressive and a lot of fun! Wear your yukata or jinbei!

You'll enjoy the restaurants and museums in Nanasawa Onsen. You might want to make time for a stop at Hiratsuka Museum of Art or Hiratsuka Hachiman-gu Shrine.
