"We booked this for a wedding about 6 miles away. It was easy to access with a taxi late at night. We let them know if advance that we would be arriving around 10:30-11pm and they said no problem, a key would be in the bar area as bar was opened until 11:30. We arrived and the manager brought us to our room, which was lovely and clean, and we then went to have a drink at the bar and chatted with the staff until closing. "When we arrived at the Griffin, to our surprise, our reservation was canceled. Apparently, the Griffin had a water leak and were in the process of repairing the damage. They said that an email was sent to us canceling our reservations 2 days prior. We were on a cruise at the time and did not get this email because we had no service while on the cruise. "The hotel looked lovely but unfortunately we didn't get to stay. Turned up to find hotels.com had not passed out booking into hotel so left with nowhere to stay in remote countryside. I'd recommend the eco lodge - staff were lovely but not hotels.com -it took almost a month to get a refund only by going via my bank's anti fraud process."
