"The dome itself was lovely and well situated on the water. The bed was uncomfortable, but the linens were clean. I was very disappointed in the facilities. I have no issues with using a pit toilet, however you must provide some running water for guests. The only way I was able to fill up water bottles was to ask the people at the lodge to go into the kitchen to fill my water bottles. I was also incredibly disgusted by the showers at Cabot Shores. "It was an upgrade for camping. The nice thing about the accommodation was that there were flush toilets and showers as well as a fully functional kitchen in the communal building. The outdoor lighting wasn’t very bright so a good bright flashlight is a must. It will help you to locate the assigned pod. Don’t bring large or a lot of luggage. There isn’t a lot of space left next to the queen-sized foam bed. Having indoor shoes is a good idea as the floor is not finished. The plug-in electric heater warmed up the space very quickly and nicely. After turning it off before going to sleep, the temperature stayed warm until getting up 7 hours later. A quick 10 min plug in brought the temperature back to the same level as the night before. Remember that this not to be like a motel room. It is meant to accommodate those who are camping. Communication with the host and his team was constant to ensure our needs were met. Good accommodations for those looking for a cozy no-frills place to spend the night."

"This was everything we hoped it would be. Unique, private, clean, well equipped as it should be and convenient to the North coast for all the beauty and wilderness it has to offer. Everything worked except for the weather which no one can control. When I come back to Cape Breton, I will be booking Blue Bayou again and well in advance since it will soon be a must for thousands of Cabot Trail visitors throughout the season."
