I booked this hotel for a week. In the morning when we were supposed to fly to Istanbul, my husband all over sudden got so ill. He vomited many times and couldn’t stand still. Around that time, we were already at the airport. BA had to pull off our luggage from the flight. Later, the doctor issued ‘not fit to fly’ note and requested my husband to isolate himself for 3 days. My husband was diagnosed with gastroenteritis which is an infectious disease. I contacted BA and the Carina hotel on the same day. BA didn’t give me any hard time and rescheduled our flights free of charge. I contacted the Carina hotel and explained my husband’s condition and specifically told the hotel front office manager that if my husband got on the flight, he could make other passengers sick. I asked the hotel manager if she could give us a year to reschedule and she refused. We have travelled over 70 countries and we know for a fact that under this circumstance, hotels usually give guests a year to reschedule. No, not this hotel. The hotel manager just simply told me to speak to Expedia.
I contacted Expedia, Expedia agents agreed that under this circumstance, We should be able to get full refund or at least reschedule. Expedia agents contacted the hotel many times on our behalf, the hotel is being evasive and not responding to expedia's emails and phone calls. Expedia agents told me that they put "unreachable" in this hotel's file after numerous attempts to contact this hotel.
