Breakfast buffet had plenty of option and the dining hall was spacious. they also provided a drink bar at night. Indoor and outdoor hot springs. Would definitely stay again."

"During our 2 week stay so far in Japan, this has been one of our favorites. It is so convenient to the train and bus stops. The staff was wonderful even giving me towels so I could use their foot bath after we had checked out but needing to kill 2 hours before it was time for our train back to Kyoto. "Lovely old ryokan by the river overlooking the turning bridge and the start of the Amanohasidate trail, right besides the Choin-ji. Staff who spoke little English were fabulous. The onside Onsen is small but nice. Room had minimal facilities but decent size. The half board breakfast and kaiseki dinners were high quality. Recommended."

"The hotel has been recently rebranded and is undergoing extensive renovations. The bits they've finished, like the rooms and the dining room, are new and shiny. The room itself was comfortable. It's close to the town, which has good izakaya and other options if you're not on a meal plan. There is also a Lawson close-by. On weekdays especially the hotel is an active construction site inside and out. It probably isn't what the workers want, to have to share a construction site with guests. It also felt a bit odd as a guest e.g. the workers congregate/socialise/smoke in a space inside the hotel entrance. I realise they are trying hard to improve the hotel, and the hotel staff were courteous and helpful at all times. The state of construction is reflected in the price, which is cheaper than nearby options. I read about the construction in advance from Japanese language reviews on other sites, so it wasn't a complete surprise."

"Goodness us…. PLEASE treat yourself and stay at least one night in this beautiful traditional hotel with its own onsen! We had a superbly decorated very very very large traditional room (tatamis), a view of the little port and the sea of Japan with sunset…. And we discovered once there that one could book their private onsen! Oh and yes, it’s ‘only’ a 100 years old family hotel…. Don’t forget to check their ‘souvenirs table’ of locally or Japan made goodies to take home. The friendliness and discretion of the front desk people is exemplary. This was part of the highlight of our holidays in Japan. Thank you so much for offering such a beautiful hotel to us visiting tourists. We wish you only the best for years to come! "
