This place has so many health code violations, it's ridiculous! The staff was nice but clueless. They didn't have my reservation on file and tried to charge me twice( I booked 8 months in advance). The place is so filthy and disgusting, you think you'll catch a disease just looking at it. No exaggeration a here, I promise.
IT WAS A VERY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE PLEASE TAKE THEM OFF YOUR LIST THE ROOM WERE VERY SMELLY AND DIRTY I TRIED TO GET MY MONEY BACK WE CHANGED ROOMS IT WAS NOT CLEAN AT ALL NO TISSUE IN THE BATHROOMS I HATED IT
Overall, I was better off paying another $7-$10 and staying somewhere else. Receptionist has no night bell. I had to knock on the window over and over until she heard me. It seemed like they never got a reservation on my name from hotel.com. A big roach welcomed me into the room, and it seemed like there are tiny bugs moving in the sheets of one of the beds. Lastly, I don't remember seeing any breakfast when I left at 7:00AM.

Time for Remodel
The staff was Great, but the signs mentioning the upcoming remodel was a relief because this place REALLY NEEDS IT. They need to do something to either upgrade the breakfast offering or just not have any
Good place for the price.WiFi was working and had to go down to the lobby to use internert.Other than, everything excellent for the price. I will stay there again
My husband and I have stayed in quite a few Howard Johnson hotels and never had a complaint but this one was definitely not up to standards of a normal Howard Johnson. Although the staff was very nice and friendly our room was pretty bad. The building looked run down and our room was nasty. We saw stains on the walls and the towels as well as shower curtains still had stains on them as if they weren't cleaned. The blankets were scratchy and bed uncomfortable. We were hoping their breakfast would be good like we were used to before but it was disappointing. Hoping you have a much better experience!
Very up to par for expectations of a quick economy hotel. Fridge and microwave in room, easy to use air unit. Only complaint, the ice bin in the room needed washing. Otherwise a good experience. Butler blvd seconds away with food options and gas
Difficulty getting shower to work. Called front desk. Clerk said to keep trying and the water would come; he stated that all their showers were that way. Continental breakfast was just "okay". Better than hunger.
Tarped pool, in Florida, in June????? Caution tape around 1/3 of the property. Ice machine out of service first 2 days. TV that you have to change the channel on the TV before using the remote.Try another for the same $$$ and come out ahead.

Hotel close to I-95
My three day stay was pleasant without negative events (e.g. leaking pipes, bugs, cleanliness issues). The breakfast was fine, but it was too carbohydrate rich for my taste ( i.e. bagels, muffins, juice, waffles). My biggest issue was the wireless connection: it was weak, at best, and I went to Starbucks, which wasn't far, for wireless connectivity. If you are a person who needs wireless connectivity in your hotel room, then you should book at another hotel. Fortunately, Salisbury Road has a wide array of hotels to chose from.

good, but not great.
I'd have to say the front desk staff are awesome. The rooms are mostly clean. There was a moist stuffy smell when I first walked into the room. The ac worked and got really cold :) the sheets were clean, but there were only flat sheets on the bed. I was expecting Fitted sheets too. The bathroom was clean. Standard 2 star hotel. Decent room. Just needs to be deep cleaned every once in a while and aired out when not being used often. This is Florida and mild will happen if you leave a room closed up and sitting in our humidity. I understand this because I live in Florida <different city>. The snow birds expect things to be like they are up north. It just doesn't work that way here, but I with the other poster. The rooms could be a little more clean. 45 bucks for this one = good deal.

Good Cheap Hotel
It had everything I needed. The TV sucked, but I didn't travel to Jacksonville to sit in my hotel room and watch TV anyways. Everything else was fine.
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It was filthy dirty!!! There was a whole in the blanket from a cigarette. It was properly vacuumed. It smelled. The pool still had a tarp on it in 90 degree weather. I will never stay at a Howard Johnson again.
I did not stay actually. We checked in, but after seeing the condition of our room and the surrounding rooms, we checked out immediately. The room smelled moldy and musty, as well as very smoky - even though we reserved a non-smoking room. Someone with allergies would be very sick after staying in these rooms. The rate was very reasonable, and the picture of the hotel online looked really nice, but it is very misleading. There are like-brand-new hotels not even a half a mile away that were the same price and some even cheaper.
It's only okay if you aren't planning on bringing guests into your room and you don't care that it looks really, really old and dirty.. otherwise it served its purpose. My guests were pretty dissatisfied..They said I needed to ask for a different room. I didn't because I wore sandals everywhere, even in the shower..Which I highly recommend. The mattress was so soft, it made my back sore when I woke up. So, if you have back challenges, don't stay here. I asked for a cot at 2:30 am because my back was so sore, I was told no. Why? because there was only one person working and that person was not able to carry it, plus they were stored away to where it wasn't easily accessible. Not okay. Oh, and they are $10 dollars per cot, if you were wondering. If you don't like dirty walls, doors, floors, and that old musky smell, don't stay here....The breakfast was pretty low quality, but it was edible..I recommend bringing your own breakfast or going elsewhere for it...The service was okay, but just okay...The pool was closed because of needing to be resurfaced, and the gym was old and needed soap in the restroom, and there wasn't anything to clean the equipment with, which it definitely asking for a fungus or something. So, if you must workout, bring a towel or two to put between your hands and the machine, or go outside. The location was decent. Oh, if you like being outside, bring mosquito repellent, you might need it.
Pictures and description of hotel are out-of-date. The pool does not function AT ALL. Gym is terrible, no water or AC in there plus there is huge open window so that people passing by can glare right at you. I changed rooms three times and they all had a musty odor that does not go away. My bathroom tub had a weird smell as well as a bathmat glued to the floor which was full of mildew. I would suggest only staying here if your a one nighter and nothing more, also the Wifi is tricky, as in it goes out everyday and you have to ask the front desk to reset the router.
This place was not what the pictures showed. I did not stay here , at check in I asked to see a room because I wasn't sure If I would find anything else on such short notice. But after i saw the rooms I didn't care if I had to sleep in my car !!!!!
The staff could have been nicer. LOOKS LIKE A CRACK HOTEL..
