"The staff were so friendly and helpful, we loved the traditional breakfast, they were accommodating to my husband who can’t eat fish. They have a courtesy bus that takes you to Arashiyama which I didn’t know and so glad they suggested. The futons are hard but I got used to them. They also said their onsen is tattoo friendly. But most of the place is in such a spectacular forest it was so pretty in the late autumn I will definitely be going back. "

"Very refined and traditional inn, where the incredibly gracious host makes you feel straight at home. Breakfast is lovely, the whole hotel is spotless, and the onsen bath is a definite highlight. Very quiet neighbourhood, with all the major attractions a bus ride away. I hope to visit again soon. "

"Kenji was a very nice host and his "guest house English" speaking was wonderful!! It is a perfect location if you are looking to wake up early and walk to the bamboo forest, you can be one of the first people there. Kenji also gave us recommendations of places to visit in the area that you otherwise may not have known about. "

"Modern hotel with old Japan touches. Loved the yakata robes and tatami mat floors. Most comfy Japanese hotel bed ever. The cafe that serves breakfast below was amazing and I loved the quiet location in Arashiyama. It was an easy 15 minute walk to the river."

"Nice place. Chose the dormitory, the bed does creak with every movement as it is made of wood. It was good for a one night stay for me, but if you are staying for 2 night or more, I recommend choosing the rooms instead. Lovely staff though, I was able to leave my luggage early in the morning before check in. "

"This home was beautiful and in a quiet street in a quiet neighborhood. We wish we spent more time relaxing here. There were some safety concerns with a toddler with the stairs etc, but they could easily be blocked off. "
