The Sleepy Shack - Private, Cozy Cottage for your next getaway!

Come enjoy some peace and quiet in this private, simple (yet comfortable) cottage located under the Oak trees of Johns Island. 20 minutes from Downtown Charleston, Folly Beach, and Kiawah. Enjoy a fire in the fire pit, heat up the grill for some fresh seafood or take a hot shower under the stars! (Just to be clear, there is also a very nice interior shower!)

The Sleepy Shack is private, comfortable, and clean! The studio apartment is ideal for two tenants. Three can easily fit in this 500 square foot cabin if one person doesn't mind the sleeping on the couch.

The rear porch is private and guests have their own separate outdoor area with a fire bowl and grill.

The Sleepy Shack is within walking distance to Low Tide Brewery and a very close drive to other various dining options. Catch a movie at the Terrace Theater or enjoy some live music at The Pour House (within 5 miles).

Come explore Johns Island - The Vineyard, Sweet Water Distillery, the Tea Plantation, Angel Oak, the Johns Island Farmers Market. Johns Island is also ideal for those who wish to enjoy distance biking through the oak trees, rivers and marshes of this rural (yet convenient) area. The wide, quiet beaches of Kiawah are just a scenic drive down the way.

Or hop over to neighboring James Island to enjoy the fun and sun of Folly Beach. Check out the fishing and surfing at the pier, or relax in the tidal pools, or shop and dine on the main drag. Grab some fresh Seafood from Crosby's or Huff's and bring it back to cook on the grill!

James Island County park is about 7 minutes from the cottage and offers scenic bike and walking trails as well as climbing wall and other great opportunities for fun with the kids!

20 minutes from the heart of Downtown Charleston! Knock the sand off your flip flops and head downtown where you can enjoy extensive history, culture and (definitely) food options! A beautiful place the visit - there are Harbor Tours, Carriage Rides, Ghost Tours, The Market, Water Front Park, Marion Square and an unending assortment of dining options to explore!

The sleepy shack was adorable, and perfect for the two of us in town for a music festival. We were greeted by our host who was so lovely and accommodating. The space itself was all we needed. It was cozy with an adorable little outdoor space. The bed was comfortable and the AC was nice and cold.

Very cozy accommodations; friendly and responsive hosts - just an overall great experience! The Sleepy Shack had everything I needed, from large coffee mugs to extra blankets. The covered patio was the perfect setting for morning coffee. Would definitely stay there again!

Very comfortable and relaxed environment that is well laid out. Towels and bedding as well as disposables were generously supplied.We would definitely stay there again. The host was immediately available when we needed help with the television and was always very gracious.

This was such a cute and cozy spot. It was nestled behind the main home’s garage with landscaping that provided seclusion and privacy. There is a coffee maker and microwave with a full size refrigerator. Dishes were stocked. Towels and linens were provided. Bed was super comfortable. Cute outdoor sitting area and fire pit. We can’t wait to go back and stay a little longer.

Cava and Billy were absolutely wonderful hosts. What a peaceful little place it is and we loved the endearing history of it. When arrived was meet by Cava and she was wonderful host, showed us around the room which was perfect. It was very clean, spacious and the shower was perfect, and comfortable bed. We will definitely stay there again when in Charleston.

This cozy little place was the perfect size for two. Private, quiet, and full of charm. I loved the vintage touches, like the old fan and table, and the creative use of fishing and boat items for decor. The bathroom was clever and compact, with everything within reach, like your personal items. The metal wall in the shower and outside the building gives it a unique rustic feel.Just a heads-up for future guests: you’ll find only the basics like sugar, salt, pepper, and shower soap. No extras like shampoo, conditioner, coffee, oatmeal packets, or snacks. There’s no washer or dryer, but a laundromat is nearby. The fire pit was great, though you’ll need to bring or buy wood. Evenings by the fire were lovely, and while you can hear neighbors now and then, it still felt peaceful overall.The only small hiccup was the hot plate. It worked, but breakfast took a while, so maybe time for an upgrade.The host was very friendly and accommodating, and we’d happily stay again. Some of the things I mentioned were listed in the rental details. I just forgot, but did come prepared. I give this place 10 stars for cleanliness, charm, privacy, and the cozy backyard fire pit. We didn’t use the grill, but it was nice to have it there. We just preferred eating out.

The Sleepy Shack was perfect for me as a solo traveler. I especially liked how quiet it was and the bed was super comfy! I also enjoyed having a private outdoor patio area. The host was welcoming, available for any questions or concerns, and very responsive. The kitchen is well stocked, it’s in a great location close to a number of restaurants, gas station, drugstore, coffee shop, etc. AND it has good cold AC! Unlike most other VRBOs where I have stayed, there is no shampoo, conditioner, Kleenex or coffee provided so make sure to bring your own. Overall a lovely little place and I would definitely stay again.

Sleepy Shack Weekend Stay

We really enjoyed our stay. Cava was a gracious host and offered to help with anything we may have needed. The Sleepy Shack is quaint and its location is only minutes away from most Charleston attractions. We would definitely consider another stay the next time we visit!
