Grecotel Filoxenia Kalamata

"This is a delightful, stylish and charming hotel throughout :) Simply gorgeous! We booked two nights at the last minute based on the high numerical rating though didn’t actually read any reviews. We decided pretty quickly that we wanted to add another night on. We had a perfect relaxing luxurious stay for 3 days out of 7 around the mani peninsula. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained and coupled with the pools’ lay out, it’s a calming space with views over the sea and pools. Our partial sea view room was lovely and I liked that we could use some grecotel bags for the pool or private beach where there are additional loungers as we were travelling by hand luggage for the week. The food was of a lovely quality and reasonably hot ( unlike our experience in October 22 in the grecotel palace at Rethymno in Crete) with everything you might want even a cheeky morning fizz on our wedding anniversary and also the best hot chocolate we have had ( ask for them hot)! We liked the complementary water in the room and at meal times too or when you ordered an alcoholic drink. Staff everywhere are genuinely warm, helpful and friendly which is no mean feat mid October as the season comes to a long close in hospitality. Everyone was great. We definitely will consider coming back again as we like mid-October and it was mid 20s every day so it was great. Efharisto Team Filoxenia and enjoy a rest over winter."

Messinian Bay Hotel

"This is our preferred stay when visiting Kalamata - we've stayed here several times. Right on the water of the Messinean Gulf and a 10 minute drive from the historical centre of Kalamata. The hotel is spacious and spotlessly clean and the rooms and their balconies face directly out to the Bay. A delicious breakfast is served every morning on the vast patio overlooking the water and a wonderful way to start your day. The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to make sure their guests feel welcomed and valued. A lovely pool to relax by or step down for a swim in the water of the bay. I can highly recommend and can't wait to until we return again!"

"Lovely stay. Great breakfast, although you are only allowed 1 coffee otherwise you pay which seems strange. Very luxurious pool area. Everywhere very clean and well maintained. Hardly a scuff on any wall. Pool beautifully clean."

"Great hotel in a great position right in the middle of Kalamata, close to the charming old town and the main shopping streets. The staff were really helpful and friendly and did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible despite there being major road works outside the hotel when we were staying. Hotel parking is a real bonus in the middle of a city. Our only suggestion would be to include more storage in the room. One clothes frame with no drawers and hardly any shelving made it a challenge to store our clothes. All fine for a couple of nights city break but any longer and it's a squeeze!"
