It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Loved our stay in Kandy, this hotel was so comfortable and so accommodating. The shower was amazing, I slept so well on the bed, even excellent pillows! The breakfast was also outstanding, we were sad to leave the hotel to go on to our next destination!

Good base hotel in Kandy

Nice hotel on the far end of the lake, so out of the hustle and bustle but close enough to get in easily. A good base for a couple of nights with friendly staff.

Great stay

King of Kandy was comfortable, walkable to the major sites, good value and spotless. The manager used to work as a cook and makes great breakfasts. Persist when looking for it; it's on a private road but there is a sign.

Very Friendly employees

The guys managing this property were exceptionally kind and polite. Called me an Uber when I needed it, advised me on the area and even showed me a tricky short cut to some excellent restaurants in the vicinity. Check out the No Name restaurant and nearby pizza! Breakfast was excellent and the chef is top notch!

This place deserves to be popular. Nice, clean, modern, balcony, breakfast, laundry service. Short walk around the lake into town. But even better are the staff. They helped me alot when I needed a bit of help contacting guides for other trips i'd arranged. And they helped chase away the monkeys at breakfast, because those monkeys will get your breakfast if you're not fast enough.

I'm so glad I found this unique place that felt like our private tower in Kandy. The name actually lives up to the hotel. The rooms and halls are spacious and airy, the balcony with breakfast tables and lots of space for exercising and enjoying the mountain view... A walk to the lake nearby is like a mini safari: bats, iguanas, ducks, fish and turtles entertain your morning. The comfort, aesthetics and stuff are great. I'd come back here.

Pretty average property - room was clean although towels were not. Seemed to be very short on staff so service was not great. Breakfast was average. Also up a private road which is tricky to find and not safe to walk in the dark. Appreciate you get what you pay for and it was fine for one night, but definitely did not live up to the reviews for me.

Je ne recommande pas cet hôtel tant que les travaux d'agrandissement de l'hôtel (ils sont loin d'être terminés) et les chantiers de refection qui ont lieu juste à côté ne seront terminés. Impossible de se reposer tant le bruit est gênant. Ils travaillent même le dimanche et jusqu'à 19h30/20h le soir avec des lampes, juste sous la fenêtre des chambre. Ol y a bien un balcon, mais on ne peut pas en profiter. C'est dommage car si les parties communes ne sont pas bien entretenues, les chambres sont plutôt bien, très propre. C'est dommage tout ce bruit nous a vraiment dérangé. Autre chose, nous avions réserver une chambre "Deluxe", spacieuse et réglé Hotel.com en conséquence. Ils nous ont donné la chambre économique, bien plus petite. A force de réclamer ils ont fini par nous faire déménager dans une chambre correspondant à notre réservation à partir de la deuxieme nuit. Encore une chose nous nous sommes aperçu le soir que dans la salle de bain, sur les 2 éclairage seul une ampoule led a très faible eclairage fonctionnait. Ils nous ont alors installé une lampe d'appoint pour dépannage. Voir photo. Notre séjour n'a pas ete agréable. Bref, je déconseille vivement cet hôtel
