Location, location, location! KC Castle is centrally located, just south of Downtown KC. Nestled in a neighborhood of historic and ultra modern homes. You can be anywhere downtown in less than five minutes. Think Old World charm meets downtown Loft. Designed to entertain inside (Chef's Kitchen) or outdoors. Huge fenced yard, amazing garden, and plenty of off-street parking. This remarkable home stands 3 and a half stories tall and has an open floor plan. From the third-floor cupula, you can actually see the Kansas City skyline.

Inside features an open floor plan, gourmet kitchen, large master suite, bedrooms 2 and 3 share a Hollywood bath. The finished lower level has a movie room and a 4th bedroom with bathroom en-suite. Upstairs, a spiral staircase leads to a kid's Loft bedroom (unofficially bedroom 5).

In order to accommodate our multi-generational families (in 2025) we have added a pull-out Queen sleeper sofa in the living room and converted the 1/2 bath on the main level to a full bath with a walk-in shower.

Please return the house key to the Lockbox. If having issues, clear the box w/the top center button. Re-enter the code, and then pull the box cover open. Please DO NOT take the house key with you.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Rules

If checking out on sun, mon, tues, then PLEASE roll the trash bin (navy/gray lid) and recycle bin (navy/yellow lid) to the curb. TUESDAY TRASH DAY
The Booking guest must provide a valid Driver's license and sign the short-term rental agreement. In the agreement, please list all adult guests.
MUST return the Key to the lockbox at check-out. Place key flat against back inside of the box. If key gets wedged on box bottom, box will jam shut.

We used the house for a team-building meeting.Perfect location, clean and comfortable, loved the huge TV.The owner was responsive when I didn’t read the instructions to access the house. LOLWe will definitely stay here time in KC.

Awesome house!

The house was nice and big with different spaces to spread out. We just had 4 people during our stay, and the house was almost too big for us haha. Loved the parking available behind the gate and also on the street. Quiet part of town but still a short drive from so many things. Would stay here again!

Great location for downtown sporting events

Great location for Big 12 basketball tournament. Large home for three adults on a buddy basketball trip. Home had decent amenities. comfortable bedrooms and beds. Overall not quite as nice as photos made it look, especially outdoor areas. We would rent it again.

This was the perfect place for our group. Great indoor and outdoor space for our group of six. Plenty of beds and bathrooms. Nice location , plenty of off street parking. I would recommend and stay again.

Home away from home in KC

This home is in such a great location! Without knowing it when we booked, we were less than 10 minutes from everything. You’d think being so close to the freeway it would be loud but sitting outside on the deck was peaceful and the neighborhood safe enough to walk at night! The home is just like in the pictures. The beds are comfy! I wanted to take the couch home with me. I highly recommend this place for families!

This property is exactly what the listing photos and description say it is. The location is fantastic. The property was clean and the response by the property manager was great. We were 7 friends who came to town for the P!NK concert and some KC shopping and we had a fantastic time.

Fantastic spot!

The house was ideal for our party of 6. The layout is unique and there are plenty of places to gather or quietly get away, from the finished basement to the large backyard. The location is perfect for seeing any corner of Kansas City, most everything is less than 20 minutes away. The host was very helpful, everything was clean and our trip was amazing, the KC castle was a big contributor to the success of our vacation. Can’t recommend it enough.

Close to Kansas City attractions

The house is spacious with bathrooms available for all bedrooms. The location is close to Kansas City downtown attractions. The owner welcomes suggestions for improvements. The one thing I was disappointed in was that I was not aware before I booked that the owner required a copy of the driver’s license of each member staying there.

Great Location and Overall Stay

This house was great. The location and proximity to everything in the city and outside of the city was couldn't be better. The neighborhood has a lot of new construction/investment and was safe and had great accessibility. The house was clean with a lot of sleeping arrangements, was well stocked and spacious with a large yard. Love the high ceilings with industrial look but sound from floor to floor and pipes is not blocked at all. This was fine for our group because we had young kids who don't sleep in! Owner was responsive and easy to work with! Highly recommend.

We really like the house but this time….

We have stayed here before and really like the space the house in general. We were booked in the property from March 4 through the 12th. We book houses because we are generally there with multiple people who need a place to sleep. Clean beds, bathrooms all great but also because we are working and will need to do laundry after several days. Unfortunately this time the washer was broken and unusable from the 4th through the 9th. After working 10-12 hours a day the last thing we wanted to do is go to a laundry mat to do laundry. It was finally replaced after several attempts to repair. This is the second time we’ve stayed there and will book again but it was very frustrating especially when you’re exhausted.

Great property. Great location.

I and 5 High School buddies follow our St.Louis Cardinals on the road every year and this year it was KC. My friends loved this space. Great kitchen area, nice bedrooms, big table for conversations and nice outdoor area for whiffle ball! Close to WWI and NLB museums (both great!) and not far from the ballpark. Our host is a big Royals fan so he gets our passion without mentioning our rivalry. One of the best of our 5 stays over the years.

Lovely

The kitchen is just as it is pictured in the photo. The décor is simple and elegant. very spacious. not everyone in our group was able to make it so it was a large house for two people, but 8-10 people would be very comfortable in the castle. It was warm during our visit, but there were beautiful areas outside to sit. It was very easy to get to Arrowhead Stadium and the zoo. I highly recommend if you are visiting Kansas City.

Perfect Place

Mike's KC Castle is the perfect place for families or groups with a wide range of ages. Spacious, and full of amenities on every level (four of them). Super convenient to downtown and easy access to several highways make getting to other areas in the suburbs very easy. We ranged in age from 3 yrs-Seniors and had family stop by for a meal. Everyone was so impressed by the details and accommodations. I grew up in South KC, so was not as familiar with the area, but it is wonderful with a great playground around the corner and the proximity to so many popular areas like downtown, crossroads and Union Station/Crown Center and the UMKC campus and Hospital Hill. Mike is a great host, who keeps everything in the home in top shape and communicates very well. We hope to stay again on our next family trip to KC

The best!

We stayed with a group of couples for a concert here and it was fantastic! The house itself was beautiful. It was VERY clean and tidy. Even though we didn't use much in it, the kitchen was stocked with everything you would need. Everyone said their beds were comfy. The amount of space everyone had really made the house though. We had 8 adults staying there and never felt on top of each other. We were close to downtown, but also a quick ride to Arrowhead Stadium. The location couldn't be beat! The owner Mike was great! He communicated quickly and was very pleasant. The neighborhood felt safe and was just as beautiful as the house. My husband is already trying to plan some mini getaways here for Chiefs games this year. We hopefully will be back and 100% recommend staying here!

Christmas in Kansas City

We loved our stay in Kansas City . Other reviews had mentioned the sound transfer across the levels in the home . It was noticeable but we quickly adapted to it. It also created some funny moments . We cooked 80% of our meals . The open concept kitchen dinning room worked well for us . Our family definitely loved the new bedding , espresso maker and tv’s. Its location couldn’t have been better . It was only 10-15 minutes away from everything we wanted to do in the area We like meeting Mike our host who quickly fixed some minor issues . We enjoyed hearing the history of the reclaimed wood floors as well as his journey building the “ Castle “. It was perfect for our family Christmas celebration.

Great stay in a great neighborhood

"The Castle in the City" was all it was promised to be. 5 of us stayed for 8-14 days, in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of KC, a wonderfully rejuvenated neighborhood near Children's Mercy Hospital. Pro's: Awesome kitchen, well supplied. Massive master suite with Jacuzzi. Great new beds all around. Very responsive owner (he built the house!) who delivered all our requests quickly, including (unsolicited) a new espresso machine and new pots & pans. Full apartment suite downstairs. Easy to get anywhere in the city from there, especially Crossroads and downtown Power & Light district. Cons. Only real con is the way noise travels inside the house. There is no sound insulation between 1st and 2nd floors, so every sound travels both ways and is unavoidable. All in all a great stay, in a part of KC we were unfamiliar with (and we lived downtown for 10+ years). Highly recommended.

Great location in an updated, spacious home

The home has ample space for a group of eight. There are gathering spots on the main floor with an open floor plan. Makes it really pleasant and easy for everyone to hang out together while meals are being prepared/setup. There is also a gathering place on the lower level where one of the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms are also located. This is really useful as the sounds from the main level and upper level really travel, making it difficult for light sleepers and late nighters to coexist peacefully! Three bedrooms are located on the upper level with two of them sharing a bathroom, jack and jill style, and a main bedroom with a large, attached bathroom. There is another bedroom in the uppermost level of the home, with a spiral staircase to get there. It's best for those in your party who are agile and can handle that type of egress. The occupants of that bedroom would need to utilize one of the bathrooms on the level below. It's best for related family members as they'll be traipsing through the bedrooms that share the jack and jill bathroom to get there. The property managers are really responsive so if any issues do crop up, they will deal with them ASAP. The location is also ideal for KC with a typical Uber XL trip costing between $11 and $18 each way. Travel time is typically ten to fifteen minutes, depending on traffic with the majority of our trips being about ten minutes. Overall, great experience with an easy location close to the city. Highly recommend!
