Enjoy Modern Amenities and Fun on the Water with Kayaks & Paddle Boat

Welcome to our lakefront bungalow in Port Douglas, NY, just a short distance from Schuyler Island!

As locals of the Lake Champlain area with over 25 years of enjoying the lake, we finally realized our dream of owning a lake house. We are excited to share it with friends and travelers from near and far! We look forward to welcoming you and helping you explore the amazing adventures the Adirondacks offer. We’re also a 15-minute drive up the interstate to Plattsburgh, NY, and conveniently located near breathtaking Saranac Lake and the famous Olympic town of Lake Placid, next to Whiteface Mountain. Enjoy year-round activities like boating, hiking, skiing, and snowboarding in the Adirondacks. (Just a tip: bundle up from October-March!)

Please Note: The ferry from Port Kent, NY to Burlington, VT has closed. However, there is a year-round ferry from Plattsburgh, NY to Burlington that takes about 1 to 1.5 hours from the house. For more information, check the ferry schedule here.

Please be aware that our property features a very steep driveway and stairs to access the home. Unfortunately, this means the property is not handicap accessible. We want to ensure that our guests are well-informed about these aspects of the property to avoid any inconvenience. The listing should be straight forward about the steep driveway and the three outdoor sets of stairs to access the camp and the additional three sets of stairs to access the lake. The view of Lake Champlain is beautiful. The camp has three bedrooms and two bathrooms which were great, but the living spaces are more suited to four people. There is no where for six people to sit together and eat a meal. There is no outdoor table. Finally the kitchenis lacking basics, like knives for chopping, glases for wine or a mixed drink. Also, the starter on the barbeque did not work so we also had to buy a lighter for the barbeque. Also, the laundry requirig 0.50 coins is ridiculous. Again, the setting is beautiful.

Lake breezes and unbeatable views! Comfortable, beachy, well equipped cabin right on the lake--great family (and Pet) get away! Not far from Plattsburgh, Ausable Chasm, and a Ferry ride to Burlington. The only thing that may be an issue for some is the stairs to and from the cabin! Not for the faint of heart! Had a great week--Thank you!!

Spent the bulk of our time outside, enjoying the beautiful view and listening to the lake lap the shore. Property had just about everything one could need to make meals, relax and have a fun vacation. We’re hoping to stay again next summer.

Great Location

The house was great for 3 couples and you couldn't beat the location on the lake. If you go during the warm months, take fans for the 2 upstairs bedrooms. AC does not reach those rooms.

Peaceful and Relaxing

The views from the property are amazing and the area was very quiet making it easy to relax. I would not recommend the home for elderly or disabled people who do not walk well, there are alot of stairs difficult to navigate (I broke my leg 3 days prior to leaving and it was difficult). The house was clean and stocked with basic necessities. The beds were extremely comfortable, I travel alot between work and pleasure and typically don't sleep well, I slept like a baby! I took my two teenagers (14&15) with me and they had an amazing time kayaking and paddle boating on the water, after a week they weren't ready to leave. The owners even had a little fire set up down by the water for us to enjoy. They responded quickly to any requests or concerns that arrived. Overall it was a nice vacation! was rwasis very responsive

Lake get away

House is clean with amazing views. We rented a boat and took it to Burlington and around the lake. Brewery and winery near by. Quiet neighborhood. Loved it

Cute lakeshore getaway

We visited in early April to see the solar eclipse. The house was cozy, cute and comfortable, the kitchen was very well equipped, the views of the lake are lovely, and the eclipse was spectacular. The property is clearly optimal for summer use, and in early spring we couldn't take advantage of all of its amenities and advantages. Would love to come back sometime in warmer weather. A couple of things to be aware of: It's a long and steep set of stairs from the parking area to the house -- definitely not for anyone with mobility issues or difficulty carrying things. The road is very quiet, but there's an active train line just on the other side, so there were occasional loud train whistles at all hours.

Beautiful location, crashing waves to fall asleep to, beautiful sunrise and songbirds in the morning. The house warmed up quickly when the weather turned colder.

Lakefront Views

Beautiful views from secluded lakefront property, the house took full advantage with huge window sliding doors which was great for getting fresh air. There were a couple of stairs going down from the parking area to house and from house to beach, probably not ADA accessible so keep that in mind when booking. Families and weak swimmers should bring their own life vests as none were provided for the boats. Definitely bring groceries, closest shopping center is a 30 min drive away. Not sure if off season but the port kent ferry was not operating to burlington. Wine enthusiasts should visit vineyard nearby, it has beautiful views too.

Loved the property but access was not handicap friendly. All of us are in our 70’s and 2 of us had a hard time with the multitude of stairs. It would have been nice to know how many stairs there were before renting. Also water craft were not manageable.

We had a wonderful stay at the property and recharged with kayaking and swimming. Lake Champlain was very clean and relatively warm this week. Hopeful to return next year!

Great quiet getaway

Lake House in the Springtime

A terrific stay on the water

We enjoyed this cottage on the lake and greatly appreciated direct access to the water. We also greatly enjoyed the local area, including Ausable brewery. We plan to go back again!
