Overall a very good Hotel However two issues which explain my revised rating. On the first night there was a very loud fire alarm at 1.45am which lasted for about 10 minutes. We had a room at the very top of the building so in the absence of any Hotel staff we dressed and made our way down to reception area and were recommended for safety to stand outside in the rain! It transpired it was a false alarm but nether my wife or I saw any staff member. Another guest mentioned that this was the second false alarm in 3 days ! No staff member ever came round to apologise. Another issue we had a room at the top of the building and with no lift this involved carrying our heavy case up several flights of stairs. Being 80 and post stroke this was not easy so I wish more mention of accessibilty was made at the time of booking--had we known we would have asked for a ground floor room

Nice hotel , nice garden with places to sit in among the ducks. Clean rooms . Bit unsure on how to get into the model village on site , no information on it anywhere. Got to the gate only to find you needed a ticket from reception which is a good way back up hill so didnโ€™t bother. Sign at reception would have been a good idea. Lovely receptionist when we checked in but the one in the morning was so miserable, never smiled and just seemed like she didnโ€™t want to be there . Having said that would definitely stay again , comfortable hotel

Breakfast and room were superb (superior family room with small terrace ) , small steam room and sauna really good temperature and v clean. Pool swimming experience awful - no monitoring of maximum no of guests and parents allowing children to jump in regardless of who was infront of them and use the jacuzzi and the sauna some in and out slamming the door as they went in and out every minute. Of course not the heat for children and Iโ€™m certain our if bounds. Spa Definitely not a relaxing experience. Overall Staff were lovely so didnโ€™t want to complain and upset thier days they worked very hard. However,if you travel alone also be prepared to watch other parties get served before you. I felt dismissed in the dining area with my v well behaved dog. I travelled in peak season so expected some disruption, noise ect however did not expect my opposite guests to have others knocking on thier door at 10pm and party until gone 1.45 am one morning and 1am the following. Management need to monitor this closely as it ruined my planned days with very little sleep. I will return definitely if management look in to respect of noise reduction (tv noise not allowed after 10pm lol I heard parties) and be mindful that the sauna is not a childrenโ€™s playground!

Have stayed here a couple of times this year. The breakfast is great. The staff are excellent. Very quiet location but not to far from main towns. We will definitely ho there again next year.

If you have the chance, take the cabin! Itโ€™s so nice to have your own backyard, with a spa and furniture outside, you really feel like home. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel and it was delicious. The staff is really nice and smiling! Would totally recommand! Itโ€™s close to any hikes + we saw a few bikers too!

The rooms, facilities and staff were exceptionally good. The food was outstanding. The hotel, itself, needs some upgrading to the exterior. Whilst the garden areas were beautiful, the cast iron white tables and chairs were dirty and needed a thorough clean. The water feature also. There were insufficient cushions on the exterior chairs. The whole outside of the building would benefit from white masonry painting to upgrade the property significantly. We would stay again

Clean room, although some plumbing was needed in the bathroom noisy squeaky taps, room was a bit dated, but hotel was lovely. Would stay again and hope for a nicer room. Staff were lovely.

We had a great stay and the position of the hotel was great for us. you get what you pay for and i am not being critical but a bit of an update, renovate and decoration in some areas would help to improve the hotel, however this did not affect our stay in any way and the staff were great as was the restaurant.

We booked this hotel for 3 nights. The location is beautiful but quite remote. No shops so a car is needed. A lovely bar/restaurant with helpful staff, an amazing menu. Harry at reception is so helpful . If going for a cruise or into Windermere there is a card for 20% off-available from reception. A model village in the grounds . The room we had was a bit quirky but that did not bother us. There is a swimming pool, small gym and massage therapy. Would highly recommend for a few days away.

Great welcome to the hotel from the gentleman on reception, very friendly and helpful, even understanding when we over slept our check out time. Room was very spacious and looked like we were in a new part of the hotel room 51, 51 had a great view over the garden where ducks and ducklings were swimming and playing. The garden to the rear of the property was beautifully kept, and the little bridge over the water and small village make of slate made the garden really standout. Service at the bar was quick and the bar man was super helpful. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet, so you helped yourself which I prefer. The room was well decorated, and had all the features you would expect in a hotel room. Bathroom looked new and the shower was amazing with a raindrop shower head, bed was comfortable and pillows fresh. 1 thing to mention, don't push the button on the side of the toilet. (You have been warned ๐Ÿ˜‰) Great stay and I would stay there again if travelling to the Lakes. Hotel is about 10 minutes drive from Barrow but far enough out not to hear any excess noise from the number of pubs in the town. Full marks for all. ๐Ÿ‘

Firstly checked in to find previous guests clothes in wardrobe, then the spa bath didn't work even though we were supposed to have been upgraded , then there was about 6 months dust on top of four poster bed ,the bed was broken and only fixed by a 3mm screw ( dangerous) . Was moved to a twin room for 1 night then put in superior room only to find someone's tablet under the bed runner which should of been clean linen clearly not . Put in a complaint to manager and hasn't even had the decency to respond . If u have any sense please stay somewhere else as that tablet could of killed a child or dog but the owner and manager clearly isn't bothered about safety protocols

Had a great long weekend, well kept grounds, room larger than expected & spotlessly clean. Buffet breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice on offer. Plenty to choose from on the dinner menu also & food cooked to perfection. Cannot believe this is only rated 3 stars, at the very least it should be 4 star. We will return again.

Special Welcome from super friendly staff on arrival, and very accommodating to a late check out request All 3 members of staff i interacted with went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
